As much as I love Joy Toy's stuff, I find the joints more trouble than usual for customs. Great articulation, but the struggle with paint rub is real. So if you're planning on painting the lower body for Snake Eyes you might want to find some properly colored joints.

Thank you for the feedback. I have thought about that and feel you are correct. The part I am concerned with is the diapers and the thigh rub. I am going to try one as a test with 3 coats of varnish and cross my fingers.

What are your thoughts on airbrushing?
Do any of you use an airbrush on your customs? Or is it strictly paint brushes? Combination of the two?

I don't tend to use an airbrush, but mostly because I am too lazy to set them up and clean them! I do use the spray rattle cans if I am laying down a base colour, and especially on vehicles. In my opinion they give the same nice finish but with a lot less maintenance (although they are designed to paint the entire surface, so no fine details). I use the Army Painter spray cans available in a range of colours with built in primer.

Yeah, I have a handful of the blanks, too. Thankfully, Joytoy figures are pretty easy to take apart so that's been less of an issue for me than the design of the joints themselves. The two discs always rub and pull at the paint once dried. So, while it's great for articulation, when it comes to painting, even with pretty extensive dremeling it seems to take a bit of repainting, trial and error, and luck to keep the paint rub at bay.

On page 10 KR, you started talking about glue. I haven’t tried everything, but I just tried out Loctite plastics and I really like it. You prime the areas with an activator (marker), let dry one minute, then add the tiniest bit of glue, hold it together (using something other than fingers), and voila! This gave a surprisingly strong bond on splicing strap segments together (I had used a bevel cut, but it still wasn’t much surface area. I’m impressed, and will use it again.
https://www.loctiteproducts.com/en/p...ingsystem.html ARBCO!!!! I tried this and it was absolutely hands down the stuff I needed. Extremely easy to use and the bond was very quick and held on everything I’ve tried so far. Thanks for the recommendation man.

Ian’s airbrush work has definitely inspired me to give it a shot. I haven’t used anything yet because of the whole cleaning process and clogging the tip issue. I need to get some motivation to spend a day messing around with it. Right now it’s been brush painting for me. Honestly the process of brush painting is more relaxing to me and it gives me some time with my thoughts. I wouldn’t mind a hybrid system in the future. Where are you at on this one Jinx?
