What I mean is not against the lead actress/actor being African American if it fits and that is what the character calls for. Not being switched for P.C reasons. Im tired of that crap to be honest. Want a strong character that is diverse then make one but don't go changing another one that has been like that for 20+ years.
I too am kind of worried about the new Snake Eyes movie cause I as others did always saw snake eyes as being white American male that was taken in by the ninja clan and trained. Michael Dudikoff type of deal. Call me a jerk if you want honestly I could care less but I have been a joe fan since I was a kid in the late 80's and 90's and would like to see the characters from the comics and cartoon be shown in that way on the screen. I like a lot of old school fans would and honestly I feel like when the powers at be are deciding these things I think that they should be put front and center instead of a fan that discovered the brand 5 years ago. On a side note. Wtf is woke? America always come up with the dumbest slang. No matter other countries make floats like this and think we are a joke.

Arrow ran for eight seasons and kicked off a huge franchise that is the centerpiece of an entire television network's programming. So, yeah, I think it's safe to say that some people watched and liked how it treated the material. Daredevil was also well regarded among comic fans, I thought. |

I'm not surprised that race changes bring up a lot of passion. Many of us are huge ARAH fans and view that as the definitive version of Joe but Joe has changed over the years.
The thing I find funny about changing the race of Joe characters is that it feels like it isn't needed. Before we ever heard the term "woke," and the word diversity could start a fight, GI Joe had several characters who were badass Joes and Cobras who were not white men. If Hasbro wants a series that focuses on a non-white character I vote Stalker hands down. RB and HD are cool, but Stalker is pure original Joe badass. A Jinx series could be cool but I was never fan of the whole ninja angle. I even hate it when they change costumes or hair colors, let alone race. Snake eyes should be white. Period. Point blank. Because that is who he is. That is how he was created. A white dude with blonde hair. Any changes to that is disrespectful. if they want to make a movie and have a different ethnicity as the stars then they should use a different character or create a new one. I hated seeing black Ripcord in the movie. Why wouldnt they just call him Stalker??? |

The new Ripcord was also a win in my book, I love his original character, but I thought Renegades did a good job with their reimagined Ripcord If they prioritize the character and her story, it will most likely be great, no matter who they cast. Especially if the dude from Arrow is involved. I just hope they don't have other reasons for choosing Lady Jay as the main character. I just want a good story, if it is not the original GI Joe story, I will be very disappointed (especially if it is a needless character change), but it's not the end of the world. I just hope they are not using Jay as a way to send a another one of Hollywood's messages. EDIT: More detail Last edited by Stormtrooper12; 02-25-2021 at 06:22 PM.. |

I am excited to see what they do with this. I have always thought of GI Joe as more of an ensemble, so centering it around one character will be different. A spy show with GI Joe characters would be really interesting.

Anyway, I wish the series luck if for the selfish reason of perhaps getting some 1:18 toys out it. At least better toys that b/s "retro" we're being fed. |
