I don't care for the figure (design is ok but the proportions bother me) - but that file card art is fantastic.
Hope we see some better new figures with the same art quality in the retro line moving forward. Last edited by Dod Ear; 02-20-2021 at 11:37 PM.. |

No, sadly its part of the head sculpt. Maybe intended for a future Blowtorch or Ace figure?
I don’t recognize these. I chose not to fill them in, just in case they are planning on using these for some future product play feature. It doesn’t make any sense to me, because all of the other Walmart Retro vehicles and stands which are part of this product line are using the former smaller round holes which we are accustomed to. |

Because of rights issues, Hasbro doesn't "pull tooling" from its licensed lines for GI Joe. They can use GI Joe stuff in licensed (because Hasbro already owns it), but they don't or can't take stuff from Marvel to use in GI Joe.
I'm still shocked that Hasbro bothered making a newly tooled...EVERYTHING in this release. Makes me think there were other initiatives in development we didn't know about that this was salvaged from.

Anyone get the vest off of the Fang pilot yet? Is it even a separate piece?

Someone did. I think it required a touch of surgery.

It requires a lot of heat to soften the vest enough to move it around, and I don’t recommend trying it, because the soft thin rubbery material is likely to tear, and would not be repairable. To remove it, I took off both legs, dropped the shoulder straps down over the arms, and shimmied the piece down the chest/pelvis using nail files and plenty of hot water. The belt at the waist is connected to the vest by some small connector pieces, so be very careful to remove as one piece or else it will tear. There is a small red Cobra emblem on the figure’s right breast, concealed by the vest (makes sense, right?).

Yes, I did today, but I didn’t take a picture of it.

Was the torso still fully detailed or did they do what they did on the Classified Snake Eyes and skip detailing under the vest? I know you said they put a red sigil on there, but I'm assuming that's just a paint app and not actually sculpted in any way. I'm curious if they did any sculpting under there in general (pockets/pouches, fabric wrinkles, etc.) and if the torso is still full-size under there or if they shrank it down so the vest wouldn't bulk it up too much (like what Marauder did with their Agency Ops jacketed torsos). The pilot is such a hodgepodge of weird choices that I'm curious about what's under the hood, so to speak.

Well, I'm really just living vicariously on this one. I'm normally one of the first ones in there tearing these guys apart but not this time. I don't have any plans to ever buy one of these Fangs and I think the figure is pretty horrible overall (no offense if there are any fans of it here). I'm just curious about how they constructed it and whether there are any usable parts anywhere on this pilot.

The pilot is such a hodgepodge of weird choices that I'm curious about what's under the hood, so to speak. The chest is full, with slight wrinkled fabric sculpted, with a vertical seam down the front center (we’re supposed to pretend it’s zipped together). As they did on each of the upper right shoulder sleeves, the upper left breast has a place for a patch to be sewn/Velcro placement, but no patch or details are there. The lower left breast has a hole so that the air mask oxygen canister peg can insert through a hole in the vest and into the chest of the action figure, to hold it in place. Under the black belt at the waist is a smaller narrow featureless belt sculpted on, with a slightly detailed belt buckle. No pockets to mention under the vest or anywhere else on the figure, but the upper arms do have sculpted on bands with a tiny little pouch on each.

I didn't watch any reviews, so this might be common knowledge already, but i was kind of curious about the articulation on that crappy figure. Turns out, it has even more poa than the regular moderns. It has both waist and mid torso articulation, the head is attached with a dumbbell like the BFS figures, and the legs have 2 additional swivel joints. https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...m-f-n-g-2.html
