All this work you guys are doing inspired me to make a custom figure. It’s mostly just swapping some pieces but it still felt satisfying to make. I learned a lot and it gave me a better appreciation for some of the work I see posted here. I really wanted a modern Covergirl for my wolverine so I figured I'd make my own. It’s marauders’ body parts with an Indiana Jones jacket and arms. I had to paint the hair to get the blonde look since I bought a brown hair head.
I made a video showing how I made it as well as some of the things that went wrong. https://youtu.be/776PqqIqShg

Very impressive for your first custom. If you're starting off this good now then you are going to start putting out some damn perfect customs in the future.

Cover girl looks great, you've done an amazing job!
I like how you kept it simple, meaning working with mostly MTF and then just swapping the arms and adding the jacket from an Indiana Jones figure. Not sure what's the trick of removing the arms you had a hard time with as I haven't done that myself. You could also have avoided the painting part if you were to buy the blond version of MTF head but it looks like you have really good painting skills so no biggie there. Hope to see more custom work from you! Last edited by paokole; 01-15-2021 at 04:29 PM.. |

Yeah, that Indiana Jones jacket is a great solution. Watched the video, pretty cool insight. Fortunately...popping a Marauders torso is a breeze. I just place the tip of my needle-nose pliers into the cavity at the bottom of the torso and (after giving the torso a once-over with the hair drier) - YANK! The nibs that help keep the halves together usually break off, but a little Crazy Glue around the edge takes care of that come re-assembly time.
Also...seeing you painting Cover Girl’s head helped me make the decision to use that same “Athena” head for my Scarlett custom and give her the Ginger treatment. Great job! I’m looking forward to seeing what you do in the future.

Never would've guessed you had to paint the hair.

How about I tell everyone the blonde was sold out so that's why I started with brown Thanks again everyone for the advice, feedback and encouragement.
