"The Turning" (2020).
Nonsensical "retelling" of a "classic" ghost story (that I never much cared for to begin with). And also quite boring. In fact, I'm fairly certain I would have fallen asleep about halfway through, if not for all the coke I had snorted earlier. (Joke!) Worse yet, I ordered it On Demand, despite being available on a channel I already subscribed to. So I paid to watch a (worthless) film I could have seen for free. (Perhaps I was distracted due to all the coke I had snorted earlier.) BTW, just occurred to me that the last 6 movies I've seen have all been terrible. Maybe next time I'll leave nothing to chance and just re-watch "The Favourite" again (for a 9th time).

Had my weekend mostly to myself, thankfully, as everyone else was watching football* ...
"Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)" (2020). That obnoxiously absurd title sorta speaks for itself, actually. Just felt like it was trying too hard to be hip/edgy. And the end result is kinda what you'd expect: unfocused and "all over the place". "Dark Phoenix" (2019). Ugh. "Sansa Stark" can barely act in even the best of circumstances, but wow was Jennifer Lawrence bad. Talk about "phoning it in"! Seriously. That "performance" should have been sponsored by T-Mobile. "City Hall" (2020). A white guy goes to the capital to fight for positive social change. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Oh, so it's a fantasy film for children."** But no, it's a documentary (and a very good one) about the soon-to-be former mayor of Boston, Marty Walsh. *The inferior American version. **Where I "work", that joke KILLED, btw. Even my male caucasian colleagues admitted it was funny. Quote:
I do not think that it has anything to do with your “addiction to coke“. I just think that movies are just getting worse and worse every year. The last great new original filmed that I watched was The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Almost everything that has been made in the last few years seems to have been made by my former High School Film Club. Wish you luck with your “coke addiction” I hope you are at least snorting dIet coke.
