At first, I thought maybe "associate package engineer" was just a euphemism to make the job sound more palatable (i.e. "sanitation engineer" as opposed to "garbage person"). However, after thoroughly researching the topic*, I realize now that "packaging science" is a pretty fascinating field, actually.
BTW, I was curious to see if my own alma mater offered that degree. And the answer is nope. Though Rutgers does, apparently. And Michigan State even has an entire "School of Packaging". For anyone interested, here's the list of colleges/universities with packaging engineering programs/courses: https://www.flexpack.org/resources/packaging-schools *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packaging_engineering

Wouldn't be ironic if Hasbro responded with: "Hey let's hire this guy for shits and giggles."
But seriously, if anyone of us were to get hired it makes me wonder if our love for the GI Joe brand would be welcomed and applied or if it would be shot down by the corporate bigwigs and you are forced to take a different approach. |

I'd apply ... but not for an associate position.
For me, it's Head Package Engineer or no, thank you. I don't need someone constantly looking over my shoulder, micromanaging my every packaging move.

Who gives a $#!T on G.I. Joe packaging if you can’t get them on the shelves/pegs.🙄

Either they were let go, quit, or said fuq it we’re starting Boss Fight Studios.

Look at how much time they go on and on and on and on and on about the box art on the Fan First presentations. They spent almost half the time carrying on about it.

They must be replacing the dude who designed the 'tab-in-the-back, plastic-free packaging'.

So my wife actually does this for her job. She's a graphic designer that works for a company that makes promotional items (printed t-shirts, mugs, christmas ornaments, whatever you can think of) and she often has to design packaging. Its a giant pain in the ass.
Next time you open a toy in a box that isn't just a square box (like Classified) cut where all the tape is and open the whole thing and lay it flat. Then imagine you have to come up with how everything folds over, make sure the art lines up, where the die cuts are, its very complicated. Imagine creating something like the boxes these are in, opened up and folded flat: Last edited by BenjaminXavier; 12-09-2021 at 09:53 AM.. |
