I used a special instrument that intakes air and then measures the content of particles in said air. You have to let it sit for a bit to take multiple samples. Then you can look at air particles, if there were any vapors, etc |

Maybe stick some dessicant (dri-z-air, damp rid, etc.) in there to eliminate the possibility of it being moisture?

They don’t make instruments that take uni own air samples and identify the properties of the sample. So unless you suspect particle x, the instrument has to be calibrated to identify particle x in the sample.
