I have finally caught up with the Hasbro Pulse presentation and all of the comments and responses on this thread. There isn't much which has not already been said about what we saw yesterday. Like many others in this thread I am extremely disappointed with the Duke figure, although at this point I am not certain why I expected more (perhaps the new tooling for some of the figures and vehicles in the first two waves gave some false hope). My thoughts from it all:
-Lady Jaye was nothing spectacular-I suppose we all anticipated it would be the 50th with the new paint printed face. Although I will say, did it seem a bit hurtful to anyone else that we received a simple repainted (and mostly flat solid paint application) with no bells and whistles , especially as she followed the 6inch presented figure which gets a pack camera; removable hair/hat; spear attachments etc? It is almost as if they wanted us to see what we "are missing" by not adhering to the Hasbro agenda of 6 inch allegiance. In addition they play cartoon clips before presenting the 3 and 3/4 figures as if to say "look, these are for kids". Maybe? -Cobra Commander -again I feel we keep me of suspected this would be the SDCC figure even though the Ultimate is superior aside from the lack of backpack gun connection -which really could have been molded on for a great figure (even produced in the dark blue with the good would have been good. The haven't seen much stated here about it the bubble design and how lonely the figure appears on the card within that large bubble. The large bubble worked great for figures such as Snake Eysa and Storm Shadow, but I find it extremely obtrusive and lacking for the Cobra Commander and Duke figures.....perhaps they should have produced a few extra accessories for these figures....the right accessory could make the figure feel newer and provide demand -perhaps a podium for CC or some Cobra banners. I know the JUMP pack included with Duke would have been welcome and given some reason for the inclusion of that ridiculous harness (this way when the figure went on clearance after it peg warms hard, it would have given me reason to buy the figure. -Duke ....what can be said that has not already been discussed. The figure is not what we wanted at all. I know I felt blindsided, as through our anticipation of the figure, we never even considered this miscalculation from Hasbro....I mean they would have to be out of their damn minds right....RiGHT?!? Duke is a mess from the arms; diaper crotch; to the expression. It is not what we wanted at all. There are several recipes we have been discussing and this was not one. Again, the bubble feels empty and ridiculous with the minimal accessories. It really illustrates the lack of a focal vision for this line....."failing to plan, is planning to fail". I understand the frustration from many here and I can understand those who do not yet have these figures and are looking forward to them (I mean no disrespect to you and don't want to presume to tell you how you should feel about these figures -that is for you to discover and decide) but these figures are not in most opinions the best representations of the characters which the cldesigneds could have assembled-even without new sculpt. I feel bad for "Mustache" (I really can't recall his name) he has taken a lot of harsh criticism on here since this process began, and perhaps he has brought it upon himself. I will say that we do not know what the circumstances are for him within the company....Hasbro is not going to come out and tell us that they are simply using the retro figures to fund their 6 inch line and that they only want simple/ easy reuse of molds without new tooling. I can't seem to understand what they are doing with this line....again no vision. Where he digs his grave with most dedicated fans is his overemphasized hyping of the crap we know they are trying to serve us, but then again we all have to do our jobs, and if he has no control over the decision making with the product, there is not much he can do other than to fake it until he can make it. It is not as if he is going to come out and say look at this crappy repacked figure we are offering up. There does seem to be some disinterest here on his part. I would love to get some incite into how the decisions are being made. Anyways, I suppose time will tell what will happen with the line, and how much Hasbro is willing to try to make this line successful. For all we know, they could be trying to intentionally sink this scale so that when they release the Snake Eyes movie products next year, they can offer a 6 inch line and then a piece of crap 5 inch kids toy, and this is their way of saying look 3 and 3/4 demand is not there....sorry for the long rant.

I will apologize now from Bette length of the post above....I keep falling asleep as I am typing....perhaps there is some good points in the post, but it is probably just the overtired ranting of my fatigued mind....I will go to bed now and again apologize to for such a long ramble.

With these being the last versions of the characters that were made, have we thought that maybe Hasbro had a ton of overstock that wasn't painted yet and they just decided to paint them up and package them?

I feel like this image was a bombshell dropped without any explanation...!
Like first off - why was it not used? Or what was it created for if we didn't get it? Does this Bobby Vala work for Hasbro? Or maybe some other company and that's why Hasbro didn't use it? Is there a link to where he posted it? I feel like leaving this awesome image without any explanation at all just leaves us with so many more questions.... Anyways, I F'ing love this figure! I feel the GH legs are a little big for the body used, but i would still gladly take this! The arms are perfect for once, gave him both guns which is cool, and that head... Boy that head is a spot on perfect Duke head in every sense. It might be too "sunbowish" for some people but i like how in the cartoons he seemed a little older than the other troops. That makes sense to me as he was 2nd in command of the team so obviously he put his time in to climb the ladder to the rank and leader he is today. Also I love how its not overly "cartooney" and also has a little bit of tough guy grittiness to it like how his character acted in the comics. The perfect hybrid for the perfect head. SO PLEASE ANYONE, ANY INFO ON THIS MOLD AT ALL?????!! Last edited by Dem_Yoe'z!; 11-22-2020 at 12:35 AM.. |

Lenny/Mustache/Hasbro/etc:
If you are reading this (extremely brave if you're browsing this thread), apologies for any and all negative comments by me, and everybody else on this thread. There may have been some missteps as this line restarted, but nothing we fans can't manage. But please strongly consider the 3 figures below as Wave Four. Straight repacks, no repaints, or updating accessories required, so work can concentrate on the new packaging. All are from the ToysRus 50th collection, but all were bundled with other figures or vehicles. All are classic and popular figures for the newer nostalgic crowd, and all are solid later build/sculpts to please the modern fans. Finally, all have already been translated to 6" Classified figures in your intitial waves. Flint (DOTD ComicCon exclusive traditional colors) Firefly Gung-Ho Probably release the first GungHo 25th figure from 2007.. and the blue Firefly that came with the 4 green shirts |

I think I have an extra set of those Gung-Ho legs and I may try to put that mock-up together just to see how tall he is out of curiosity. The torso appears to be Night Force Falcon/Tiger Force Recondo. Anybody else agree? What are the lower legs? Sorry for all the questions but inquiring minds want to know!

I know its been said MANY times before, but how can you decide to use the "o" face duke? It has to have been the worst one we've gotten in the modern era lol

We can’t make any sense if it because it just does not make sense.

The 25th Grunt figure is better than this re-release of Duke...and that Grunt figure was diarrhea to the eyes.
