After seeing this, I firmly believe that Hasbro is trying to kill the smaller scale again.
Somebody at Hasbro HQ, overseeing everything, only wants 6 inch figures to exist. They purposely killed the Marvel Universe line. They did this by firing David Vonner who was in charge of the MU line, then they released a few waves of absolutely terrible figures with lots of head-scratching decisions, just so they could claim the scale didn't sell. They have shifted almost all of their resources for StarWars towards the 6 inch line. And now they are doing it to GiJoe. Its obvious they are only putting effort into the 6 inch line (regardless of whether you appreciate the decisions) and have allowed the retro line to be handled by somebody completely incompetent... it's entirely possible they aren't even allowing the retro designers to make decisions at all |

Well then.
Does anyone have a decent recipe for a no-paint kit-bash classic Duke? I'm thinking maybe Duke v31 (Greatest Battles DVD set) with legs from v24 (comic 2-pack) and some new hands, though I'm not sure the colors are all that close of a match. I was really hoping that I'd get to finally replace my 25th 5-pack Duke but... yeah, not with this retro one. Head: Duke v43 Arms/Hands/Torso: Retaliation Kwinn Legs: 50th Anniversary Shipwreck

These pictures are from before I tracked down a bandolier and helmet, but this is my zero paint Duke build:

Holy moley, that Duke is a stunningly bad low effort job. I've found much of the complaining about the line so far to be way over the top but I can't defend anything about this Duke rehash. Just plain damn bad.
As for the other two, I already have the Retaliation CC and the nice capless Jaye from the 5 pack so there's nothing at all in this wave that I need. |

Totally bro. I’m so glad I didn’t start on this line. Another Hasbro crap bag that they are painting a as a gift for collectors.

The 50th MASS Device 3-pack was a slow mover at the time. People only wanted the TV camera and maybe the dinky glider update. All three figures were a pass.
Here we have basically two of those three figures single-carded and without the two unique accessories offered in the 3-pack. I don't see how this ends well. This was such an easy landmine to avoid. And this will probably be the wave that finally shows up in my local stores. :( Quote:

I showed my six-year-old G.I. Joe fanatic a picture of the Retro Duke and he said, "That looks ridiculous! I do NOT want that one!"
Great job, Hasbro. |

You can put a DG Duke helmet on this head too.
