I enjoyed this book. The first issue or two were just so so but there were some really good issues and it showed a lot of potential. The depiction of Major Bludd was one of my favorite joe things in a long time. I really wanted to see more of that charactrer. The art, I was not a fan of admittedly. I always kinda knew it would not last though. So many people these days pre judge everything to fit their packaged views. Oh well. It is what it is. Hopefully whatever comes along next, if anything comes along next, will take some of the better concepts and run with them.

I am saddened for you that you have lost a cherished book. I suppose you just didn't buy enough? I don't think anyone read the Dr Venom issue. The cover is not so bad, but bisexual lighting on a robot doesn't make one want to drop $4. Is it possible to have a bisexual robot?
https://i0.wp.com/graphicpolicy.com/...verA.jpg?ssl=1 Is Joe an Elfquest fantasy? https://i2.wp.com/graphicpolicy.com/...5%2C1024&ssl=1 The other two covers are not too bad. I feel bad for the retailers that had to suffer through the normal oovers to get to the RI covers though. https://graphicpolicy.com/2020/09/09/preview-g-i-joe-8/ Edit: This one is actually pretty cool. Is is 1/100? https://i0.wp.com/graphicpolicy.com/...5%2C1024&ssl=1

I've often wondered why writers so rarely take full advantage of access to online fan communities, before attempting to "re-imagine" an established property. That way, you'll have a better sense of the sorta changes that the hardcore geeks will (or won't) be able to accept/tolerate. Plus, if you can ultimately gain the fandom's trust, they'll (hopefully) be less likely to rise up against you later, when you start introducing the truly controversial stuff (such as critical race theory or gender-neutral pronouns or whatever).
But by the time Mr. Allor participated in the Q&A thread here, the atmosphere was already extremely poisonous. The fact that he seemed so defensive and quickly became quite agitated certainly didn't help, either. As far as the actual comic itself, I have zero clue if it was any good, or not. I've only glanced over a few pages (because I couldn't look past the "artwork"). BTW, what the hell is a "herhavoc"? Is that the name of the bisexual robot? I could only find four references on the internet, all of which seemed to be from that same press release posted in the news link.

Simple, murderous BATS. Not sexualized in the least. Just robots!!!
Issue #8 only ever featured a heterosexual relationship, one between Dr. Venom and Bombstrike, that was played up on one side to gain trust. People are confusing Allor’s great work with Shitterson’s trash, and/or looking to make some stupid leftist connection. Absolute idiocracy. You read all 8 issues and didn’t enjoy it? Fine, no worries. I’m buying and reading Dead Game, and I think it’s absolute crap. It’s Wonder Woman meets Thor meets demon gods, not Joe in any way to me. Not liking something for legit reasons is cool; pre-judging a book, looking for bisexual ghosts, is not.

If so, I'm lucky, since after being exposed to Decepticon logos, Decepticons such as Shockwave, Techno Vipers, LA Laker and Minnesota Viking Jerseys, Alzheimer Association Logos, US Military Purple Hearts, Barney the Dinosaur and Beast Wars Megatron, rainbows in the sky, Donatello from TMNT, and other awful purple things, I have somehow managed to remain straight.

G.I. JOE does tend to attract men's men, but we do need some Ken's out there so Barbie can go home and cry at night over what she's missing.

Do we know this is the end of the book? It is called Volume I, which suggests it isn't the end.
