Next up is a figure I think is really underrated. He is a high-ranking member of the Joes and is in primarily an administrative capacity. I have seen a few customs of him where he is bald. I thought I would like to portray him that way as well, so when MJ gave out samples of the new heads at Joefest, there was a bearded/bald head that I thought might fit the bill. Now...the head has broadly European facial features, but I figured I would plow ahead and give it a shot. You know that thing where an unpainted cast head looks one way at first...but then looks a bit different after you paint it? That is how this was. The unpainted Marauders beard/bald head was really just a bit of a generic head, but as I painted the features, it got really familiar really quickly. He is basically old Sean Connery. I present Colonel Courage...
COLONEL COURAGE (V1): 1993

That’s one great looking Colonel
I’ll have my own Col. Courage whenever The Great Restock happens over at Marauderinc.

This next figure is an example of the paint needing a figure, I love the richness and color of the Citadel Brass, so I went looking for a figure that had such a color. Lo and behold...Techno-Viper V2. I threw in a pic of the Exo to pretend it was a version of the Power Fighter.
TECHNO-VIPER (V2): 1994

I see why you wanted to use that color! Really pops, especially cool with the exo-suit.

Awesome! I love this version of Techno-Viper! Paint apps look great on him, like that you took artistic freedom and went with a face plate that matched the armor, always wondered what he’d look like that way.
Those metal looking paints are additive! I always look for guys to use them on once I find one I like. Amazing Col. Courage too! I’m gonna have to make one fairly close to that. He is perfect! Great job, as always!

Next up is another Iron Grenadier. I have taken a few liberties with this guy. Firstly, I haaate paint rub...so much so that I have gladly sacrificed a bit of vintage authenticity in the different colored arms and knee joints. I was looking through by parts bin for a bearded Trooper head (the vintage-styled helmet cast is pretty small and does not allow for much hair. The almost-smooth Trooper head seems to work best, though not perfectly) when I found a Tan Skin Tone head and thought Voltar might look pretty good with that head...a little bit of a Mediterranean vibe to him. Lastly, I wanted to copy another Voltar I had seen, so I gave him some white temples and chin.
VOLTAR (V1): 1988

I like the creative decisions Rob. My favorite it the idea to go with a Mediterranean vibe. I could definitely see that and it makes for great character development.
