One thing I'll mention, re: the opinions of Lenny's designs. Something that really jumped out at at me during that first presentation was how someone asked if there is a chance for more traditional designs down the road if the line does well. Now, he could have mumbled a canned response of "anything is possible, we'll wait and see, etc." but instead he gave a very enthusiastic "Yes! Absolutely!" which leads me to believe that if this line has sustained success, he will definitely explore every opportunity to make all fans happy - even JediJones!

But I will say that Lenny doesn't seem to me to be an over all type designer for this line. Scarlett and Snake Eyes look like they are from different toy lines. It isn't just the gold. It's the face design for Scarlett too. I think Classified got sort of a "throw everything together from a variety of people" treatment before they knew how successful it would be. Hopefully as it becomes more profitable, it will get a more coherent, consistent vision.

And thanks for the welcome and the advice on collecting/buying these days. I'll probably avoid the stores and stay online unless things change. Last edited by Novacaine31; 09-22-2020 at 12:35 PM.. |

I'm really on the Hasbro side at this moment because at least is bringing back GI Joe to the public. This is many fans that never got into the 25th line nor the other iterations for the Joe line so for them this Retro line is like seen new figures... I was thinking from the beginning that the Classified line looked to be based in a video game and at the end we are getting it so indeed that's a big step on a new way to market the Joe line... I don't collect the Classified line but I don't bash the line... I seen some great figures coming from that line and no one can deny that.

Hasbro did intentionally obfuscate that those Classified designs were based on the upcoming Operation Blackout game. Some people are probably going to feel misled, because Hasbro never once attempted to add context and felt the new line would just market itself.
If Hasbro had used the already-released War on Cobra game designs instead, I doubt it would have been as much of an issue. It would have been easier to draw the connection between the figures and the game, and War on Cobra didn't try to reinvent the wheel with weird design choices. It looks and feels mostly like classic Joe. A 3.75" line based on War on Cobra would not be a bad place to start. It's fine to like the Blackout designs, but I don't feel they represent the future of GI Joe, either. So it's okay to wait for the next Classified Duke or Scarlett. |

I can verify that they have hit Hong Kong.
I took this snap of wave 2 in a local mom-n-pop toy shop that is oriented towards collectors. The prices are covered but they were like $3 USD more than Walmart and Scarlett was well over $20. They also had wave 1 and I grabbed a SE and SS for around $16 USD each which is cheaper than ordering from Walmart + shipping for me so I was thrilled. |

I tried multiple times to secure an AWE or HISS tank. Almost got the HISS tank then when I went to pay after adding items to reach $35 for free ship - bam - out-of-stock!
Scalping... does anyone know if Hasbro Pulse might release this on their site on Friday/Saturday? |

I feel weird. I haven't been to a WM so far this week. I think I'm done looking until I hear that the retro line is on pegs at multiple WM's. I went the ebay route to get my 6 SS's. I will probably get a few more for any other custom ideas that may pop in my head.
Hopefully W2 will show up soon.
