So I bought Gung-Ho today. Still not into the 6" much, but he's a cool figure and super rare right now.

So here is my exhausting, embarrassing story from this past weekend.
As you all know my Central AC has been limping along, keeping the house cool at night, but the house hits the mid 80s from about 1-8 pm. Instead of bringing in a repair company, I'm waiting on a friend to take a look at it (I have serious trust issues when it comes to repair companies, lol). Well he keeps postponing when he can come look at it, so I decided to buy a second window unit to hold us over. Friday afternoon I found a GE 12,000 BTU unit for only $400 at a Home depot not too far away. Perfect! So I bought it online, p/u in store. Called them Friday evening, asked if I could come p/u same day. They took my info, said they'd call me back in a few minutes once they confirmed they actually have it. 30 minutes later, no call back. I call them, get bounced around from employee to employee AND .....sold out! Shit. So they refund me. I find another location with 2 of the same unit in stock a little farther away. Call to confirm......no answer! So I say F it, take a chance and drive there. I don't see it there, so I go to the help desk, and......system glitch, they don't have it!! So now I'm starting to get Target/Cobra Island Deja-vu. However, as luck would have it, Home Depot is in the processes of clearance-ing out their AC stock, and I find a 18,000 BTU unit for $459. What a great deal.... Sooooo, apparently installing a large window unit AC is a bunch more work than installing a small window unit. With a small unit, it only takes about 30-40 minutes to open the box, attach the support bar, add the 'wings', get it all set up and going. With a large unit, you have to remove the filter cover and filter, unscrew and remove the front plate, detach the control panel, remove the 'ground screw', and slide the entire thing out of the metal casing. Then you install the metal case in the window, which needs more support because the unit weighs 100+ pounds. After the case is installed, you slide in the actual AC unit, and you then have to re-attach everything you took apart. All this might only take an experienced tech an hour, but for my first time doing it, in an 85 degree house and 100 degrees outside? It took like 3 hours. But I got it done, and was feeling super accomplished....and then the embarrassing part. I go to plug it in, and it's a 230 volt plug!! This wasn't mentioned to me when the employee helped me find it, but, it's my fault for not checking. I felt so damn dumb. So, at this point, I have to take it all apart again, and then reassemble it again, and then package it all back up....inside my 85 degree house (100 degrees outside). It sucked so bad. At least I was getting quicker at it the second time. To Home Depot's credit they accepted the return no problem. (That's two $400+ charges awaiting refunds to my credit card, for those keeping track at home). After all that, I just decided to buy a smaller unit. Exhausted, I bought a mid size 8,000 BTU unit for cheaper. Easy install, and the thing is a nice lil trooper. So far it has been a huge help getting us through these hot ass afternoons.

Home ownership has its perks, but boy does it have some pitfalls! I had to deal with some HVAC issues myself this weekend

Bartek, I found this more sad than funny. Sad, because I hear this sort of thing is common place among today's youth. I've also read studies that say the youth are having far less sex than previous gerneations (this was before the pandemic even), which is a shame, because when you're young is when you're the most fit and active for it. (to be clear, when I say youth, I mean 18-29, I'm not advocating under age sex).
I mean, video games and action figures are great, but if you have a fine ass woman by your side, her needs come first! Or else, she won't be by your side for long. |

It's fucked up that you can see more Classified Joes marked up to ridiculous prices on Ebay rather than in the stores and these fuckers just now came out! It's not like they stopped producing them. They just now brought them to stores!

It is sad that this is the mindset of our current youth in relationships. Although funny as a joke, but when you do realize that there are people in relationships neglecting their significant others over video games and toys it's not going to be a mystery why breakups will happen. Can you imagine that, eventhough the number one reason for breakups and divorce have been over money, that the number one reason for breakups and divorce shifts to video games? I know several of my kids friends, mostly males, that avoid relationships altogether because "it takes away from my gaming time". I tell them all the time, "No, it's that you are having a difficult time leaning to bring balance to your life." These types of guys even avoid all other social interactions, shopping, work, etc just so they can get on their game.

Yeah I scored Gung-ho and CC already, but they're currently in a pile next to my couch. I have a serious back-log of toys to open since I've been dealing with other issues at the moment.

I thought I was having AC issues. During the late afternoon to early evening certain parts of the house was not cooling off, especially the part of the house where the thermostat is, which is right next to my youngest daughters bedroom. Got my electric bill, $311. WTF??? Found out my daughter leaves her bedroom window wide the fuck open during the heat of the day. Again, WTF??? |
