I was really disappointed. Modern figures are a joke. Disproportionate bodies full of design flaws, accessories that don't stay on, no standard size, no standard format, bad articulation, limbs that break off, it's a mock of what GIJoe ever was, and it was ultimately responsible for the death of the line. RoC toys sucked so bad! Nano Vipers had DIFFERENT SIZED LEGS! It's a poor line, and now it's sucking it's last breath out of 80s nostalgia, but as soon as the hype fades away people will see how they burned their money. The best efforts were saved for the 6"line, this retro is pure garbage. They won't appeal to kids because they're shit to play with, and now not so much to adults, because they'd rather have a better 6" figure as their desktop collectible. Hasbro shouldn't even bother.

And that fact just makes me feel absolutely ancient.

I've always been drawn more to the vehicles and then getting seat fillers. I do like the modern interpretations but unfortunately, the ME figures dont scale well with the vintage vehicles. Theres a thread on here that does a "compatibility" test, but I still see them not quite sitting well.
I always liked the FLAK cannon and placed a ME Rock&Roll figure in the seat, the feet couldnt fit onto the foot braces so they just dangled. So back to vintage R&R as a seat filler. Even the foot pegs prevented some issues. The retooled ME vehicles were an improvement, but still didnt sync well with me.

I would agree with your critique if I only had 25th and ROC figures, but from POC to the 50th, the majority of the figures were ultimate versions of those characters with better proportions. 3/5 retro figures so far have these superior builds. Hopefully we will get more.

Agreed.
A friend of mine was allergic to water. Had to use powdered water.

You know, pulling out those old Spy Troops o-rings after getting so used to ME, I was kind of shocked at just how nice the o-rings felt. That tension and smoothness of operation made the whole thing feel nicer to my hands, even if the proportions are goofy. Makes me wonder what an o-ring Classified figure would feel like....

Snake Eyes v23, 2005's Gung Ho, Torch, Barrel Roll and Major Barrage are AMAZING.
