*Insert disclaimer about being interested in vehicles over figures here*
O-rings are cool and all, but the modern figures standing up to modern aesthetics means that they can expand the line so much more than if they stuck to the old o-ring style. They can do new designs, they can tie into new movies or shows, all that good stuff. I think it lets them more easily state that they're making a return to form instead of dwelling in the past, and that lets them move forward to create new characters and figures and vehicles. It says "this form factor works" instead of "hey, remember these?" and that idea has a lot more potential. Of course, they could end up doing nothing but re-releases and prove me totally wrong.

If there's even a 1 in 100 chance that's the issue it's worth checking out. A sink of warm water with a little bit of dish soap, a good scrub with a soft bristle toothbrush, then blast all the water out of the joints and crevices with some compressed air before letting them dry... then see if they still sneeze.

Careful, you could have a Toy Soldiers situation on your hands if you've got some of the craftier Joes/Cobras!
Also, I've said it before, but I was happy it wasn't O-rings. I can appreciate people's nostalgia for them, but I find them so ill-proportioned and the sculpting just looks so...simple, I guess? The only ones I have are my uncle's old ones and those are sitting somewhere in the basement, so I wouldn't have had any reason to buy new ones unless the vehicles coming out were still tooled to fit ME figs. |

I always liked the FLAK cannon and placed a ME Rock&Roll figure in the seat, the feet couldnt fit onto the foot braces so they just dangled. So back to vintage R&R as a seat filler. Even the foot pegs prevented some issues. The retooled ME vehicles were an improvement, but still didnt sync well with me. |

I describe the figures as "personality-equipped vehicle accessories" so I feel your pain. I've got a Rolling Thunder but not a single vintage figure to go with it as of yet.

I was really disappointed. Modern figures are a joke. Disproportionate bodies full of design flaws, accessories that don't stay on, no standard size, no standard format, bad articulation, limbs that break off, it's a mock of what GIJoe ever was, and it was ultimately responsible for the death of the line. RoC toys sucked so bad! Nano Vipers had DIFFERENT SIZED LEGS! It's a poor line, and now it's sucking it's last breath out of 80s nostalgia, but as soon as the hype fades away people will see how they burned their money. The best efforts were saved for the 6"line, this retro is pure garbage. They won't appeal to kids because they're shit to play with, and now not so much to adults, because they'd rather have a better 6" figure as their desktop collectible. Hasbro shouldn't even bother.

I was asked that in a different thread, and while it's hard kind of hard for me to express just how I feel about him, I think I got sorta close....

He's been around for years, nobody really likes him, but he got so excited when he found out he got RT duty that they're afraid he might do something harmful to himself if he finds out the truth.
