funny u mention this. that was the only gripe I had with the modern line. they seemed disproportionate in size to me. lol. ever since it was first released in like 2007. but i am excited for the vehicles that are coming out. and I do think the new classified figures are really cool but the figures are to big I wish they were 3 3/4 inch classifed figures I would have bought them all.

Funny, I was actually surprised by how small Classified was! I'm so used to NECA that some part of me expected all the Joes to be a full head taller and I had to pull out an old figure to confirm how much larger Classified is.

I'm used to MOTUC and NECA too, so I'm still sometimes taken aback by how small Black Series and, thus, Classified figures are. I never got that into Marvel Legends so I'm just used to a bigger, bulkier take on 1/12.

I completely prefer the O-ring design over anything they have produced since. I hated the articulation joints on the 25th anniversary resculpts. Some of the joints on those guys wouldn't even move. My Cobra Commander 25th anniversary figure has a right arm that's permanately straight because the elbow joint will not budge, never has.
Give me the old molded hinges rivited together any day. |

I think the older part of me got out of joe when I was kid because the o-ring figures where toys and the older me saw them as ugly. I got back into it because the newer modern stuff had more detail. O-ring is dead and no one but a collector would have bought them. Hasbro most likely knew this and they are struggling and want to make sure a kid would possibly see these and be like cool and buy them. They cant afford to have a crappy line that remains on the peg.

Personally, I'm very glad they went ME rather o-ring. That said, I'm more interested in vehicles. Bring on the Stingers and Rattlers!

Hasbro isn't aiming retro collection anything at kids. It's pure collector and scalper bait. It's almost a stretch to say CLASSIFIED is in anyway aimed at kids, at least until the Snake-Eyes movie is released (direct to streaming!)
I would've liked a remake of o-ring Cobra Commander V1, since the 2000's o-ringers didn't deliver that. (Spy Troop's CC doesn't count with his skirt and pin head). Instead we are getting variants of things any actual hard core modern collector already has. And there's little to believe they'll ever go beyond core characters (or the year 1986). So this benefits vintage packaging fetishists, newbies (poor suckers), completists and maybe people who want to army build HISS tanks. Who knows, maybe hell will freeze and they'll at least reissue Zarana next year? It's just as well they are modern, if they were o-ring I'd want the whole line, instead I probably won't get anything. |
