Itch - Sucks that fat slob hogged up all the good toys before you got there.
Ozzie - Happy Anniversary man Bartek - Hilarious picture Everyone - I do not share the same level of hate for the scalpers as y'all. I mean, selling things for more than you paid for them? Isn't that exactly what every retail company in America does? Are we not a capitalist country? As long as they aren't actively snatching them from the hands of children, first come first served, no? |

Itch I hope your dad gets better soon. And that I ship your stuff soon.
Barty thanks for that balloon picture. I needed a laugh. Sadly I’m also noticing that Yeet and I are stating to sound alike in other threads. I came to a fork in the collection road and there were several options. I took the one with the least amount of Hasbro in it.

There was a guy here a while back who did that with a Helix some kid was gonna by. The guy snagged it to use for a custom but then realised when he got home that he didn't need it for his custom. He felt bad about it, but he still did it. Also Scalpers make sure there's none for the rest of us to buy so that we have to buy from them. This isn't simple capitalism, as it is illegal for companies to use many of the tactics the scalpers use.

Then they should start companies and order them wholesale. Buying them at retail to artificially manipulate demand is not capitalizm- at least not the version we enjoy as Americans. As I pointed out before, these types of actions are illegal in the corporate world. Besides, what they do practically is snatching them out of the hands of children.

I don't think retail companies mark up their prices that high. I equate scalpers to the big pharma: They find very cheap ways to hog all the products off the shelves, whether through price manipulation, theft, workers using their discounts to pre-purchase the product and move the boxes from the shipping container to their vehicles, purchase at retail take out the more wanted figure and repack the box with something else and take it back for a refund and then turn around and price an in-demand $12 action figure at $100 or more. I can excuse myself buying a $12 figure on ebay for $20 to $25...maybe even $30, but $100? $150? $200? Or more? I mean, come on! That's ridiculous!
But if you find something at a store for a discount and re-sell it online for a profit....I don't think you deserve to burn in a lake of fire for that.

Well I guess scalpers is too broad of a term then? At least too broad a term to be damning them to hell. I think thieves and con-men are the people you actually have a problem with (and bots...and re-packers). I mean, taking stuff from the truck before it hits the shelf, buying and returning with the wrong stuff in the package? These are straight-up crooks, not simply scalpers. Not cool.
But if you find something at a store for a discount and re-sell it online for a profit....I don't think you deserve to burn in a lake of fire for that. It reminds me of those people, at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, who purchased shit tons of hand sanitizer and toilet paper to where noone could purchase them from the stores anymore and then you see $2.50 hand sanitizer on Ebay and Amazon for $60-$80 and toilet paper $100 or more. The scalpers I refer to are the ones that see a need in a certain group of consumers and buy up all the inventory and take advantage of the consumer by charging an $100 or more like we're seeing with the Target Classified figures right now. |

I agree there. But yes, the more extreme side is what I was referring to and maybe I shouldn't do that.

Gaming a system and depleting inventory to take advantage of people and manipulate a market as a matter of profit or profession is, however. It even be different if they got in line like everyone else, but they don’t even do that. They use shady and unethical methods from bots to bribes.

I don’t consider the occasional flip to be scalping, or even limited speculation.

I have an eBay store and took the comments to mean I should burn for it, lol. I now realize that those comment weren't directed at normal folks like me. Thanks Ax.

Oh yeah, of course, definitely not aimed at you. You just really don't seem to come off as someone into extreme scalping and taking advantage of people. I have an eBay store to but the way I do it is when I buy something to flip it on Ebay I always start my auctions off at 99 cents and let the people fight over it like a pack of wolves fighting over a piece of meat. I let my customers determine the price they are willing to pay.
