We can cross our fingers. If this line makes it into 2021, I’m hoping we’ll start to see some of those types of characters, but we’ll have to tread the classics at first. If they use some new parts and builds, that might be a treat.

im honestly happy for all the people that wanted 50th or 25th anniversay figures but I wont be buying them. I never liked the way those figures looked even when the 25th was released in 2007 Ill stick to vintage or buy once they ever decide to release O-ring figures. in the meantime enjoy your brand new figures guys!!!

What a rip-off, Hasbro. Bring back the o-ring figures, not this garbage. Hasbro never ceases to amaze me. What a bunch of dipshits.

This line is "retro" to me in the same way TVC is "vintage" for Star Wars. It's about the packaging and presentation.
Hasbro should have just called it GI Joe: The Vintage Collection since there's already a precedent for what this line has the potential to become. Calling it "Retro", and they did call it that on the Live Stream, when the Star Wars "Retro" are vintage repros only confuses the market. Quote:

Don't you say it! LoL. But hey they could bring back Dan Cortez to do the commercials! That would be totally rad! LoL Quote:

I need a female torso for a project I'm working on if you have one. I have a few males I could trade. ;)

This says it all. I see a Tweak to the AWE STriker's Engine Cover on the box and the HISS Driver is all sorts of new. I just want this to sell well enough to become akin to the Star Wars Vintage Collection.

I've been eBay tracking them since 2018. At a certain price, I buy them (I'm the same way with Troopers). I also have two fairly expensive customs on Resolute bodies made by HissTank members. I have WAY overspent on Scarletts.

As I continue to process the news my enthusiasm for the "retro" line grows. Personally, I see it as a win/win. I got back heavily into collecting vintage o-rings in 2017 and I sold off all of my Modern Era figs - I had probably 150-200 figs from the ME so I will be able to get ME figs again at retail and in some cases they will cost less than aftermarket figs as I am trying to build up my ME collection again. I can already say that I will be getting the Roadblock and Destro figures from the 2nd wave.
I also made the decision that if there was a vintage vehicle that was re-released during the modern era I would get that instead of the original vehicle so this will potentially save me money on vehicles this go around (although I am a sucker for the Hiss tank). On top of that I already had quite a few of the 25th anniversary vintage vehicles that I have kept and just use with vintage figs. So I can just continue to hunt down the vintage vehicles/figs I want on ebay and plan accordingly as new waves from the retro line are released. |
