I'm just relieved that they stayed with realistic firearms. Classified had me concerned (though I do realize that the two lines are marketed towards different audiences).

What I want to know is if these are pre-built or not. Most are, but the Skystriker and the SDCC sets weren't. Come to think of it. maybe I got that switched. Maybe it was just the 25th that were in one piece out of the box.

I’d suggest (like already mentioned) that we should be encouraged by the return of the scale and quick sell out. That along with seemingly initial success of the Classified line and a coming movie all points to a future for ARAH Joe. A chance to get things people want. I don’t think we could really say that two years ago.
What I want is encouragement that Hasbro understands the Joe brand enough to be faithful to what came before and to think of new ways to expand on the brand. They understood that all the way through 50th which did smart rereleases, filled in major holes in the collection and did new characters that fit into the mythos well enough. But Hasbro has shown to me this year that whoever's running their brand doesn't get it. No one with any emotional attachment to the classic line could approve the monstrous Classified designs, especially without first giving us classic, definitive versions of those characters in the new scale. And this new retro line isn't particularly imaginative so far. They're rereleasing or repainting three figures already released recently in the 50th line. The SS is off the mark as a match for the card art. The vehicles are not the most exciting choices possible. The Retro cards don't nail the classic design on the nose the way Star Wars TVC still does. The vehicle box art and the updated vehicle drivers are more in line with what fans want though. So, ultimately, G.I. Joe is still an action figure brand being handled worse than all of Hasbro's other ones. Everything else seems to be putting out many truly exciting releases for their fans. This one, not so much. |

I actually want the figures and not the vehicles. If you are ditching the figures, please let me know.

Look, if we were in a room together right now I would roll my eyes at you. I say that with love btw. Classified is working, can we at least agree on that? Not all fans are going to love the recolors, use of gold on everything or the sci-fi weapons, but the redesigns are definitely working- for both fans and casual buyers it would seem based on brisk sales at retail.

I hope the next ones will be a Duke and Scarlett. I've always wanted a Duke to be made like some of those awesome customs and a Scarlett like the Resolute one but with a different head.

But I will keep buying most of Classified just because I'm sure we will get ARAH repaints down the line. Hasbro loves repaints and rereleases.

Okay, first things first - this is what I wanted but I appreciate just as many folks out there were hoping for OG O-ring Joes. Sorry you're losing out, guys.
Secondly, I already have that Snake Eyes, and Baroness but do like the paint apps and seemingly better face on the latter so may well pick her up. Likewise, if we get good 'new' classic updates of Duke, Roadblock and Scarlett, I'll be all over those too. Storm Shadow is just baffling though, I would be on board if it were the Ultimate Storm Shadow but the Renegades one? Who would want that instead in a retro themed line? Bizarre thinking on Hasbro's part there, must have just had a load lying around or something I guess. Don't need the AWE Striker but I totes want the HISS tank, the new driver sculpt is basically all I could ask for and while I have a lovely collection of HISS tanks already (white, orange, blue, two red, one 25th black, and v2) I've never had the actual classic 788 black HISS so give it to me now. It's the vehicles I'm really hungering for. Bring on a Rattler, a Dragonfly, Whale, Phantom, do a Haslab for an updated Flagg, I'm down. |

Gentle Giants Jumbos had really fragile plastic shells. Since these were a boutique buy to begin with, they would've really had to pull out the stops to be worth that. They didn't. Secret Wars had the same fate. I think Star Wars was the only successful brand they managed for that line.
I've seen Joes bid to higher levels than Transformers. Just depends. |

I don't need any encouragement about the popularity of G.I. Joe. In my heart and from personal experience, I know the line was popular through every release up through the 50th and the club. I know by the numbers the eBay prices have soared on anything Joe since the line went on hiatus. I also know that any relaunch of a substantially popular 1980s toy line has been popular, e.g. He-Man, Thundercats, TMNT (Hasbro's missing a big bet by not relaunching M.A.S.K.).
What I want is encouragement that Hasbro understands the Joe brand enough to be faithful to what came before and to think of new ways to expand on the brand.
