Looking Crankcase over:
5 pack Shipwreck torso and arms Cobra Commander upper legs and knees SE V34 (which is the 25th V3) lower legs and feet Cobra Trooper webgear in brown New head and helmet I like him much batter than the 25th - but that wide lower torso with the skinny jeans gives a mom jeans affect |

I hate to say this, but after seeing the carded figures with those long blisters, I have concern of what we will find should these ever make their way to the shelves. I foresee going on a hunt only to find no trace of these with the exception of torn cards hidden throughout the store. I hate to imagine this, but let's face it, even with the surveillance all throughout the store, some people will try this. It will only hurt us and the environment in the end, as they will either change the packaging to become more secure/more plastic, and the company will grow tired of the loss and see this as no longer worth the trouble to carry the product.

The Bad:
No O rings. Transformers, Ghostbusters, and Star Wars all get their vintage construction style (modified), but no Joe. Why have vintage art if it doesn't match the product? Why does Crankcase have a beard? Vintage only had a moustache. 25th was a reused head, so they cheated. I hate WalMart. Why no Commando head for SE? The Good: Great versions of the characters to rerelease. As they are SO similar to releases less than 10 years old, I'll probably pass on them IF I see them in stores, but their quick sellouts tell me my sales aren't needed. Gorgeous art. Return to scale! No O ring probably means Hasbro will continue to let Black Major, Red Laser, and others be. They're doing great things. Hopes: A worthy Duke Rereleases of hard-to-find figures, like Lifeline and Airtight. Firebat. The Anniversary version is going for way too much on eBay, and my Terrordrome needs one. Past and Present 2-packs with O ring figures Line going beyond WalMart exclusive |

I like Crankase, but not a fan of the skinner upper CC legs. Remember SE and SS used POC and Renegades parts. HISS driver appears to feature no 25th parts as well. |

Damn everything is sold out - hopefully by collectors and not by the bots. At least this shows their is a market for the product. Any ideas on production numbers? Glad to see attention brought to 4" Joes and looking to the new figure waves. Slightly bummed that this is a re-hashing of the 25th anniversary line instead of retro though (poor choice of marketing on Hasbro's part) - was expecting a little more of a game changer. After looking everything over I can't really justify adding anything except Storm Shadow to my collection.
As I look to get my 4" collection back up to snuff I may just end up buying the original 25th anniv figs on cards - it will be interesting to see what/if any effect the retro line has on after market prices. |
