Your Iron Grenadier Team is sweeeet! I’m looking forward to the final group shot, current faves being IG Destro, Ferret and Nullifier, but hey, Destro can wear whatever he wants in his own castle. I love your photos/backgrounds as always.

Hahaha, Destro definitely makes dress-down Friday’s interesting when he pulls out the furs. Awesome, i appreciate it! Taking the fun shots that remind me of the old catalog pics is definitely one of my favorite parts of sharing these customs. Ask and you shall receive, haha. Need to figure out a TARGET to finish up the 89’s and Undertow to finish up 1990. Also want to get Piper done so as I complete those I’ll start pulling the entire Con set off the shelf and get a giant team shot done. Crazy to think if I get those last three guys finished, my IG group will be up to 41 figures. 1988 Iron Grenadiers I couldn’t decide which format I liked better so here’s two different layouts: Then because I couldn’t help but see if I could fit him in the Despoiler. I swapped out his legs to a blank to avoid knocking off the leg bits:

Starting off the week with a figure who I was not found of at all growing up. Really didn’t care for his vehicle either. In recent years though, I started picking up pieces here and there to fix up our childhood Sea Ray and eventually started to really like it. Now I needed a pilot but the original Sea Slug still was not getting it done. Since Marauder parts fix everything, I started out trying to make more of a commando version of Sea Slug and came away very happy with the results.
Another figure who is an all Marauder build with a little chrome, red and spice paints added to get him closer to the original version. Since I was looking at him more as an individual and not as a troop builder, I gave him the MTF white haired head with a mustache so he had more of a unique look. Cobra Sea Slug

Dude, your IG Group Shot is great! I like your MTF/BFS builds of the characters as well as, if not better than, Hasbro’s figures! Destro looks amazing in his Despoiler, too! As for the Sea Slug, I agree, not a favorite Cobra Trooper, but your take on the figure is decent, and will do until they come out with a purple t-shirt for the male Contract Ops figures. Keep up the great work!

-Todd Shakka85 I almost want to make a second of the Destro so one can always be in the Despoiler. Wasn’t prepared for him to sit so well in it, thought he’d be half hanging out of it. Haha, thanks! I did what I could to make a guy in a skin tight purple tee shirt look as cool as possible. Really like this build so much more than his original look so may not even switch it out if Marauder John does release a purple tee. Think he looks great with the Sea Ray. As always, appreciate the comments!

Thanks! Alternating between brand new projects & putting finishing touches on older ones so in a good groove right now. Just got parts in that I’m very excited to start messing with to finish off another group so very excited to see what I can do with them.

Up next was one of my favorite figures growing up, Vapor. Loved the design of him and he got used on most Cobra missions. I also didn’t have Overkill as a kid so he pulled double duty not only as the Hurricane VTOL’s pilot, but also as my Overkill stand in to lead my BAT V2’s. As awesome as I thought the figure was, the Hurricane was even cooler, loved everything about it. Vapor is obviously pretty beat from heavy play, surprised my Hurricane is still in pretty good shape though.
Pretty simple Marauder build here, just with some red accents added to make him pop. The head is a chrome cast I got off eBay years back with some red added to mimic the unique head sculpt of the original. Vapor

Thanks! Totally agree on the head, works perfectly for him. He’s another who I had built but never applied paint to. Just a few touches of red really went a long way to making him come to life. Really happy because like I said in the original post, he was a favorite of mine so it was necessary to have a good version in my modern collection.
