Use both the name and numbering convention. GI Joe: The Vintage Collection. Start at number one and go from there. |

It's worth reiterating that Hasbro can, and has, put premium pricing on specialty products like this. Cost of production is likely mitigated by the potential premium they and retailers can get away with. Retro Star Wars figures cost $9.99 with a 3.75" 5 POA figure and one (or two) accessories. Real Ghostbusters Retro figures cost $14.99 for a 4.5" 5 POA figure and 4 accessory components (on a card back about triple the size of a Star Wars Retro card back). Both are also licensed products, which is an additional cost to consider. In that scenario, $12.99 is a nice medium between retail shelf size, product complexity and being able to be produced without any licensing overhead. And more importantly, the use of o-ring figures has a LOT of broader nostalgia that a 50th rerelease might not have (not even factoring that ANOTHER release for ME tools we've seen multiple times might not be that stirring outside of the core fandom...who likely already have those figures to begin with).

Someone else pointed this out, but that’s basically what the 25th line was.

I think I could get excited about a 3 3/4" line in the style/proportions of the vintage ARAH O-rings, but having them be rote-copies of the vintage figures?...eh. Maybe if they were updated somewhat, and actually oriented more towards kids, that could be an interesting approach. But with the "Retro" tag, it would seem they will be collector oriented.

I think the idea of someone being able to get a mint on card figure without paying an arm and a leg, and getting the joy of opening it up without the guilt, is a pretty nice one.
That said, who knows how popular these will end up being? If Joe as a whole ends up being popular enough, we might see something like their Star Wars approach: 6" collectors' toys (Black Series/Classified), reproduction vintage toys (Retro), and a line of modern figures in the old scale (Vintage/whatever Joe calls itself). Can Joe support that? Who knows. But Hasbro does have a working model in place, and it's hard to imagine them turning down money if it can be proved that money is there to be had. |

I like how people that don't like O-rings really really want to be in this hype. "Gee, I hope retro is not retro, it could either be modern figures from 5 years ago or non-existant GIJoe with 5poa, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT RETRO MEANS!!!". Friday can't come too soon.

Honestly If we get an updated classic duke in modern Joe articulation I’d be a happy camper.
