Just speculation. However, solid arguing points when you look at the exclusive SE having an uzi, but the retail version having a leaky (hole) water gun.
Maybe if the retro line is labeled as an adult collectable. But then, could they still be offered in the toy aisle, or perhaps some end cap elsewhere in the store?

The difference is that the Classified figures are intended for everyone, whereas the retro will obviously be geared (up, hopefully) for adults. The fact that the EXC Snake Eyes has realistic gear lends credit to this, as that was also marketed to adults.
Also, 3.75" is a catch all for anything that's roughly in 1/18 scale. The "3.75" MU figures are a good example. At this point, it could be either true 3.75" o-ring, or the 4" ME style figures. |

I'm struggling with the idea that Hasbro will re-release the o-ring style figures similar to the Star Wars retro line. Those are a simple 5 POA figures with a new cardboard backer, but the tooling involved in going back to the 80's Joe's seems like it would be much more extensive and is ultimately counter to what they appear to be doing with Classified. I'd much rather they do something in a similar vein to 25th/POC but not those exact figures. Of course if wishes were fishes...
I suppose in order for the line to be truly "retro" they would need to be either a re-release of the o-ring figures or something that takes those designs and pluses them in some fashion, similar to 25th/POC. Last edited by Stygian; 06-17-2020 at 02:35 PM.. |

I think they will be original O-Ring figures re-released with some slight differences so you can see they are not the originals. Just hope they don't put a huge 'RETRO' sticker on the front that covers most of the artwork.

I feel like no matter what anyone wants or expects, we’ll all be disappointed.

I’m actually excited to be getting anything 3 3/4” Joe at retail. My level of excitement will depend on the product.
