I do think some of these changes were coming either way, the Virus just sped it up. Self Checkouts were already here, but going forward will probably be ramped up a bunch. I was amazed at how many people were able to convert to working from home so quickly/easily. If that was the case, shouldn't they already have been working from home (to reduce traffic, save gas money, reduce pollution, etc) ? They had already begun to roll out sit down restaurants with no wait staff in Asia (using a combo of robots/machines, etc), wouldn't shock me if that sort of thing takes off here. I dunno, again, just thinking out loud.

Meijer has or had a machine you can weigh your self-bagged produce on a scale in the produce section which will print out a upc you can put on the bag. But there's little stopping someone from grabbing avocados and then selecting Bananas or something cheaper, printing out the label, going to self-checkout and ripping off the store.

INCREASING the number of students per class??? That seems....not right/smart. I'd think the way forward is decreased class sizes. **IF** this virus is here to stay, I would think the solution is some kind of hybrid between online and in school. Like, half the school goes Mon,Wed,Fri, the other half Tue/Thur. It would reduce the class sizes and bus loads in half. Then kids could still get class time, but not pack the schools. I dunno, just thinking out loud.

Now, teaching and some other jobs are best suited for face to face interactions/proximity, mind you. I would never advocate for elementary Zoom lessons as the way of the future.
