Green is a notoriously difficult color to print, something about the coloring agent used makes the filament less cooperative. Brands that I use regularly:
3D Solutech: Not great but cheap Inland: OK Amazonbasics/Overture: Really good but need to run 5C hotter than normal Stronghero: Pretty good stuff especially their silk gold! Paramount 3D: Fantastic customer service and color choices nobody else has (great military colors) IC3D/Repkord: Great experience, a little pricier than Inland and Solutech Printed Solid: Their Jessie PLA is a great price and really good product they make in house.

I still haven't printed with black so far but I've done some temperature towers with other colors and found that cooler nozzle temps make a duller finish. Black may or may not work the same way but I thought I'd mention it. The downside is that cooler temps seem to have poorer layer adhesion and are generally weaker prints in my experience. P.S. Sorry if I ruined Solutech for you! What slicer are you using?

For slicer I'm using Cura. I do model work in Blender 2.79 and I've had luck with tinkercad and inkscape converting pictures into flat 3d models (good for getting some angles) stick working it but making good progress. For example I used powerpoint of all things to trace a picture of a Kenner Deatstar post to get the right shape. Save it as a png (do a little cleanup in coral). import it into inkscape where I trace it and set the size and save as a plain svg, then import into tinkercad and it become a 3D model. Then I mess a little in blender to get the other sides and first print was really close. Need to do resize (because man, I can never get exact on a calaper) and a little bt more shaping but happy it kept all the manifolds too.

No problem, it was cheap entry. I have had luck with some samples I got but if there is better filament I want to try it. I saw Paramount has $8 50ft rolls which is a good deal so I'll try some.

To combat print stringing in Cura you can fiddle with your "wipe" settings and your retraction distance and speed. Thingiverse has retraction towers meant for tuning for reduction of stringing. That's probably a skill worth developing. Temperature adjustments can help as well. For SVGs, you can import those directly into Blender and then use the "convert" option and convert to object/mesh. Might save you a step unless TinkerCAD does more for you. In blender you can automatically set the normals outward by selecting all vertices (in edit mode) and hitting Control+N. Similarly, you can identify all non-manifold edges or vertices from within edit mode by deselecting all and then going to the "select" menu at the bottom of the viewpane and choosing "non-manifold." These two things (along with vertices->remove doubles) really help to make model cleanup straightforward.

The aforementioned Paramount 3D has a matte black. I haven't tried it yet. But all of their filaments I have tried have been great. I ordered one roll that had some issues, contacted them and they quickly sent me another roll to replace it. Top notch customer service.

In Blender, if you have not done so, install the 3d Print Toolbox addon it allows you to check to make sure objects are manifold before you even export the STL. It also has a "Make Manifold" button which can auto fix small problems.

Looks good Zap! If you make it 6” scale you’d probably get a lot of sales from people who don’t like the Sci fi weapons the figures come with

Yeah, I'd love a 6 inch scaled version of this weapon.
