Getting those Star Wars retro figures to hold their weapons is an extremely easy fix, that anyone collecting GIJoe over the last 15 to 20 years should already be well versed with.
All that is needed is to dip the hands in boiling water and then press them closed and run cold water over it. Instant fix, just don't burn yourself in the process. If Hasbro uses the soft plastic for the hands on the Joes like they did with the 2000's ARAH reissues then there may be similar issues. Had to do that many times to fix the comic pack ARAH figures that Hasbro loved to ruin the hands with those rubber bands, to hold weapons in them. But it's an easy fix. Another thing to consider with the Star Wars figures not being an exact reproduction of the vintage figure. They were made like that on purpose, according to interviews with Hasbro. So that they can't be passed off as a real vintage figure. They did that to protect collectors. I doubt they'll do that with GIJoe though. They never have in the past. |

Truth be told, the potential parallels between the SW retro and these has me both excited and troubled at once. I've already mentioned why I like the idea repeatedly, so I'll skip doing that yet again, but what worries me is that the Star Wars figures are nearly identical... but what differences there are actually seem to make them inferior to the originals. This has some side by sides:
https://jedibusiness.com/NewsDetails?id=23144 Especially look at Luke, he seems to have suffered the most, somewhat sloppy molding and paint, etc. The article also mentions that the figures can't hold accessories properly. If these are indeed a similar line, I'll only be grabbing them if theyre equal or improved remakes. |

Even though I'm a HUGE Star Wars movie & toy fan (I grew up with the original films), I'm on the fence re: whether or not I'll be getting the any of the retro SW figures. However - I don't have the original Vintage figures any more, and it may be nice to get some of these - especially if they are better made than their Vintage counter-parts.
Back to the G.I. Joe retro figures - I hope pictures of these surface soon. Again, they should be improvements over the original versions, even if they look similar. I don't have any ARAH Vintage figures left - but, I did get some Vintage-like figures in the ARAH comic packs from the early 200X's. And, some of these do have O-rings. I have noticed that the rubber-bands on these have deteriorated over time, and broken - so the figure is "broken" in half, but still essentially intact if I replace the rubber-band (which I haven't bothered to do yet). The reason I'm mentioning this is that I'm not too thrilled with the O-ring design - but, if the retro figures use this - I may still get them...as long as they also use the swivel-arm battle grip ;) |

One thing to keep in mind when looking at Star Wars retro figures, is that they were never designed to have interchangeable parts, unlike GI Joe. I would not expect the same size discrepancies on new parts IF Hasbro is looking ahead to future releases

Really wish we could get some news on these. I know that’s not going to happen for a while.

But again, no one has even officially confirmed the lines existence, so pics are probably a ways away. |

I wonder if they'll use the OG versions of the vehicles or the post 25th tweaked ones instead. In most cases I'd prefer the latter, the Vamps having the little things like actual head/rear lights and a removable shovel were great, as were the new FANGs. The only one I was eh about was the Skystriker due to losing the passenger seat but still liked the more detailed cockpit in its own way.
