I do man. As I've said many times before, this hobby is almost purely nostalgia driven for me, and I look at those toys for their uniquely 80's charm rather than how accurately they depict the characters, or how many POA they have. I also wouldn't be to disappointed in a continuation of ME, as I missed it when they were at retail, but I prefer my toys to be the toys I grew up with... or at least a reasonable approximation.
On the other hand, if these are a ReAction type line, I'm out. That works for some properties, especially those that'd otherwise not be produced, but not GIJoe. But while there is a nostalgia component for me, it’s not nostalgia driven.

What’s the usual timeframes for things entering Walmart’s systems & them showing up on the shelves?

I'm actually at a crossroads with collecting as we speak, for a few reasons. A recent "series of unfortunate events" caused me to completely dump all of my collections at the end of the year, and as of this month, I'm stabilized enough to jump back in. Looking back over the past 20 years has caused me to view a few lines in a different light, as far as the modern counterparts are concerned. Transformers, MOTU and Marvel for example will all be modern this time around for various reasons, especially TF for durability. TMNT and Nintendo will definitely stay original, because I see no reason not to, aside from prices. Joe is the one area that I'm on the fence with. Both eras have their own merits, but I won't do both. ARAH is what I know and love, there's no "they didn't make that one", and for the most part they don't spontaneously fall apart like G1 Transformers do. Moderns of course also have their benefits, but from what I've seen, there are consistency/quality issues, and the line up is far more limited- too many Snake Eyes and not enough Darklons (joke). Also, buying on the secondary market, the prices are the same, if not worse than ARAH, because half of the characters seem to be exclusives of some sort. There's also the worry that I'll spend money to go all in, only to find after a couple of years that they don't hold any real meaning for me. That being said, there are a lot of excellent figures to choose from, and it would be nice not to have to be constantly worried about discoloration, o-ring repair, weakening plastics, etc. I'll also be completely honest and say that were it not for the rose tinted shades, I would hands down prefer the look of the moderns. I feel differently about which way I'll go day to day, and I think what ends up on shelves this time around will help me decide- I really want to pull Joes off of the pegs again. TL;DR- yeah, I get it. |

I'm hoping this, as well, but expect it will be o-ring repros, as is widely postulated.
At the very least, new designs/fresh sculpts in the vintage/o-ring fashion. I'm tired of being asked to buy toys from the eighties. I wish people wouldn't support those type of lines. With Joe as the only exception, those lines sucked when they came out. Real Ghostbusters? Why does anyone want to buy those? I, for one, don't get it. |

It’d be nice if these companies would stop suckling at the same or’ nostalgia tete & give some of their other legacy properties a nice throwback. I’m looking at you Mattel.

I wish Mattel would use their Jurassic Park dinosaurs to make a new Dino-Riders line. Or Captain Power, imagine what they could do with that line today.
