I mean that in a good way- i own nearly every Zelda title, and have always loved to revisit them. picked up BOTW last year, played through until I thought I was over it ( a lot of hours there), and have since tried revisiting those old titles, but while playing, not only am I subconsciously put on edge when it rains, but i find the previous games to be too limiting now, and i stop playing and put BOTW in. I've now gone through it some four times already, and I'm about to go for a fifth "completionist" run. At first, i thought it was just a matter of being infatuated with the new, but this hasn't happened with any other title in the series, or even other franchises- I'll still replay any Mario title as though it just came out yesterday.

me too, i dig em all actually, especially Link to the Past on the SNES . That's why I found myself so surprised to lose interest in them after BOTW. I think it must be similar to how many Joe fans lost interest in the O ring once the ME came out, the new is so good that it tarnishes the view of the original. I think I'm mostly surprised at myself because I'm typically purely into my collecting/ hobby purely for the nostalgia, and i generally go straight to the originals.

I know a kid who prefers the old Zelda games over BoTW. He likes the old games better because they have a more direct and straightforward way of storytelling.

Couldn't have put it any better myself. I frequently go to pop in my LTTP cart, then stop right around the point where I get the 2nd pendant. I find myself wanting to go into hyrule castle with a tree branch and a few rusty swords to get the hylian shield asap. Another thing that's really funny is how the rain is now traumatic in almost ANY game I've played since. Even though I know I'm not going to be climbing, I find myself subconsciously swearing whenever it start to rain!

I was on some side-quest by a lake and all of a sudden this meteor came out of the sky and killed me (good thing I had Mipha's grace or I wouldn't have been able to collect the star pieces afterwards)
