What 80's cartoon/toy/comic based multi-media tie-in franchise comic would you like to compare it to? TMNT? Transformers? DC's Masters of the Universe comics? Other IDW books like the Visionaries and Transformers crossover? Maybe compare the current book against ARAH, which has been getting an increase in sales?

Can't disagree with that. I think I'm one of the few people my age who even buys comic books

People actually watch a 20 minute video bitching about a comic book that takes 2 minutes to read?

Also: I think idw should have learned by now to have a series similar to resolute starring the original favorites on missions. Maybe then they could try new ideas and would get less backlash.

As I stated before, I intend to reserve my judgment until I read some more issues, and I think it would help if the Gi Joe readership would do likewise before bringing the pitchforks and torches to the series. If we trash every new Joe series from the start then what's the incentive for IDW to put more Joe content out there?
As I have said in some of my posts in various threads, I do not believe books, tv shows, or movies are good or bad simply based on the amount of diversity in them. The CW's Arrowverse sometimes pushes this topic so hard that it distracts from the stories as a whole. To me it's the difference between accepting diversity as part of everyday life and having to celebrate it as if it is the end all of everything. Having said the above, I really don't feel a comparison between Allor's work and Sitterson's is fair. Sitterson changed all the characters and the Joe organization into vehicles to espouse his worldview. When fans complained, he labelled them alt right. I hated just about everything he did, including making Duke look incompetent. I just don't see that in Allor's work, including his prior work on the IDWverse Gi Joe series (before the Revolution miniseries and Sitterson destroyed it). I think he should be given a chance before the series is denigrated. |

For where it is in the he story? Same reaction. I don’t care about this character yet so I really don’t care about their relationships. Develop the character before defining them by one trait.

I can think of a few recent comic arcs in Spider Man (the Hunted story arc), Batman(City of Bane), and Doctor Strange(Whatever this thing where the devil makes him reweave the universe is called) that in my opinion were better than this.

I loved Devils Due so I was down on IDW when the first got the license but I eventually started enjoying it. Cobra Civil War was great. They eventually went down hill though. The Fall of GI Joe and the Van Lente stuff was bad. Revolution sucked and Sitterson is better left forgotten. This issue just wasn’t very good. I didn’t see the political stuff but it just wasn’t very well done. The art was poor and the story could have been done better. Diversity and progressiveness are great when they are shown to just be a natural part of the story but become annoying when forced. I’ll get the next couple of issues to see how it goes but this was a less then stellar start.
