Declassified and Storm Shadow Larry has stated are canon. FL technically isn’t as it contradicts 155.5 forward.

This might be irrelevant to what you guys are talking about but I’ve been trying to read all of Marvel’s ARAH this summer. I’m on issue 122. This is my first time reading it, as I was a movie guy. It’s really good. Zartan is the character I like a lot more than I did before.

Yeah, the marvel run is top notch. I don’t even consider it in the same category as other comics. The only other that comes close in my opinion is the first 18 or so issues of strikeforce morituri.

I have Frontline and Storm Shadow so I'm in, if we're going that route.

There's a YouTuber named Comic Tropes that does a pretty informative video on that title. I always saw it in bargain comic bins and passed it up because I had no idea what it was. kinda regret it now, sounds like a super interesting concept.

Issue 1 through 20 were done by the same guy. After that, better off not being read. I had a subscription as a kid. I wondered why it stopped. I think they had a change up that included more than the writer and I’m pretty sure my subscription ended earlier than it was supposed to. Was a mystery to me, I wondered if the book got cancelled. Then as an adult I got the rest of the issues and then wished I didn’t.

Issue #155.5 is live to discuss. Yo Joe!
Let’s continue here. In a few weeks, we can mix in the short series stuff like Declassified and Frontline on Wed or Thursday like when doing the old Special Missions. We need to get moving on IDW ARAH if we want to finish. Every 4 we do, they’ll likely add 1. And yes the Marvel GI Joe Special issue was discussed concurrently with issue 61. Thank you. If someone needs help finding these issues, PM me or some of the regulars here. |

CC's dreams are almost more action packed than the rest of the issue.
He wears Tjbang's mask when he sleeps. The Crimson Guard are wearing HISS driver outfits again, or Zartan thinks so. And here's where things get more modern political. Cobra funds a militia group that cannot be traced back to them. The group sounds vaguely libertarian, which is odd in its own right as actual libertarians don't really organize into radical armed cells. Somehow they get actual tanks into D.C. Of course the regular military quickly stops them everywhere, because this the common thing people say about radical armed groups talking about revolution, that the military would kick their butts. Of course, militia attack fears were more a mid-late 90's thing, so I guess this story seems a tad retro. CC is impressed those losers pulled off a coordinated attack, I guess because his minions would've fracked things up. The Jugglers are idiots. Cobra brainwashed and enslaved and entire American town and they want Cobra as private military contractors? (I'm skipping ahead a tad, but that's the context for the Juggler talk) Baroness looks like she got augmented...and just wear a blue catsuit and shades now. Meh. Trucial Abysmia guards have adopted a Viper-like look. The Trucial Abysmia raid is action scene that goes nowhere. Cobra Commander is now the Rocketeer or a TARGAT. They almost team kill the Baroness, Billy and Zartan. Better luck next time. Or Baroness, trying radioing ahead that you are in a stolen copter (one with enough fuel to make from the middle east to Transcarpathia!). The first signs of Dr. Venom returning...yay? CC gets Billy's history mixed up. He fell in with the Baroness before being trained by Storm Shadow. Letters: Hama says GI JOE exists in a different space time continuum. One where folks in served in Nam never get too old? Overall: You wanted GI JOE in your issue 155 1/2? Ha! This is a Cobra comic now! CC sleeping with a mask on is silly. No Joes stopping he Broken Star whatever folks. More Jugglers...yay? |
