Thanks C.I.A.D. (Erick) for the positive shout-out on the show!
I've said it many times, Hisstank people complain a lot... but it really is one of the last forums that allows it (to some extent) without fear of getting banned or ridiculed by cliques, etc. If you read back, a lot of the genuine complaints are well thought out, written well and are the opposite of knee-jerk reactions, and then you have the troll-like bullshit, but everyone sees that's it's troll bullshit. At least I hope so. Forums like the Club's, they simply do not want any of it, even, seemingly, the constructive criticism. That in itself is ridiculed. It's a fine line to walk for sure... but my promise to you is as long as the basic rules we all agreed upon are followed, you can say what you like about the product you're buying (or not buying) without an overly critical hand of censorship.

Hisstank members GIJoeComics08 and Leonardo T Dragon really do often put on an enjoyable podcast, and I make it a point to watch these shows live whenever I can.
I so enjoyed guests C.I.A.D. and Bobby Vala, and agree with the comments that one of our Hisstank moderators, Xerofall, deserves much credit for the time and effort he puts into this forum. I’m glad that Bobby Vala is exploring the idea of building his own business. With talents such as his, I look forward to seeing what he creates next. I just wish he would stop bashing the Hisstank community on this podcast as he repeatedly does. These tankers are the same ones who can decide to invest in his future Kickstarter, or choose to watch him sink and starve. It’s their choice to do so, just as its Bobby’s choice to denigrate them on these podcasts. With last night’s show, so ends another successful year for the Just Another G.I. Joe Show podcast. We never did see in 2018 an episode they told us to watch for: G.I. Joe from a kid’s point of view. We have seen that there are children who collect G.I. Joe at the convention and other shows, with nearly all of them having been taught ARAH by a parent. One of my sons, Adam, even briefly interviewed Derryl Depriest concerning the upcoming G.I. Joe film on the live broadcast of the Just Another G.I. Joe Show podcast at this year’s convention (at the 53:00 minute mark), which I thought turned out to be a rather informative discussion of that podcast. It will be fun to see in 2019 what the JAGS (Just Another G.I. Joe Show) podcast has lined up for us all.

Some of us think Vala's wrong about 6" being the answer for G.I.Joe's future, but we still respect his opinion and we're thankful for all the work he's done on modern era. Here's to the hope that modern era 3.75 continues in some form of fashion (HasbroLabs, Kickstarter, a new Club, MTF, etc). I would be willing to help back Vala taking that license over but like many here, that's the only Joe figure size I'd be interested in. If they want to ignore their core fanbase and test the 6" waters, more power to them but I won't be indulging or funding that. G.I.Joe is 3.75 figures. Take that away and it loses one of its significant identifying traits. The product would easily be lost in the noise of the much larger brands occupying the 6" space (especially shelf space). It will not be the answer to Joe regaining mainstream appeal. G.I.Joe at 3.75 scale has a lineage and nostalgia effect. G.I.Joe at 6" has no universe behind it, particularly given the lack of movie support for several years now. As Playful noted, the younger generations that are aware of and into Joe are almost exclusively thanks to their parents in our generation that had the ARAH figures in the '80s and have modern era figures in the '10s. So not only do we have collections in that scale, it's also what the younger generations have associated with Joes as well. It's actually a good thing from a marketing perspective because it is so established and kind of unique. They should play to their strengths. Last edited by edgecrusher; 12-02-2018 at 11:32 AM.. |

I love the podcast and all the guys on there but I do cringe every time someone references the Hisstank.com crowd and they all laugh or sigh or knowingly chuckle. I also wish there was a little more pushback from the others when talking with Bobby. Fred went on a heartfelt rant at joebattlelines.com when the Final Twelve prices were revealed and I wish he'd stuck to his views and followed up with some questions for Bobby rather than being so deferential. It seems a little hypocritical to make fun of those that white knight at the Club forums but not call out the same when we get it from an insider. Though I guess with the death of the line none of this really matters anymore. [plays 'Dust in the Wind' by Kansas]

Agreed. I'm not a huge vehicle collector but that becomes really tough with the 6" scale and vehicles seem to be a big part of G.I. Joe kid play.

I see 6 inch as being the only way Hasbro will make any "quick cash" because the Star Wars, Marvel, adult collector guys would buy a few to display on their shelves...
But for the die hard fan, it's not going to do much because I don't think Hasbro has the confidence with Joe to really take a 6 inch line anywhere past a few key characters. And the die hard fan would want to collect them all. Couple that with what was said on What's On Joe Mind and it paints a very clear picture that Hasbro doesn't know what to do with Joe. In my opinion licensing them out would be the only way for anything we want to see being made.

Hey All!
So, first things first - HT is known for bitching/drama. You know it, I know it. Shit, I lived it on the front lines for 10 years. Wear it like a badge. There's very few places that allow open discussion on this level. Plus, the kind of crazy drama that was going on here is long gone (with me included, lol), making the environment here a lot less trolly and a lot more enjoyable (unless it's a sbartek post, those are indeed trolly). (smewches, @asshole <3) Now, as for Bobby V talking about the bitching here...C'mon guys, let's be fair - While the guy was doing his thing for the Joe Brand, we bitched. When those before him did it, we bitched. Now, tomorrow and forever, we'll bitch. Again, wear it with pride. If you can't spit word salad on your favorite toy, is it even a hobby? As for the future of Joe - It's time for a change. Focus on the next generation, toss us a bone here & there, or like Jeff said, license the brand out to a new outfit and let them carry the torch. Shieeeeet, I'll do it for free.99. PS - Don't blow smoke up Xero's ass. He's never going to stop talking about it. EVER. "I aRe BeSt MOd. " |
