The constant problem with these factories is that they promise they can meet your expectations based on the information you give them, which is always very thorough. They show you examples of similar figures that they claim to have produced to make you feel confident in their abilities and you have to take their word for it. They then proceed to make samples which are primarily constructed of 3D printed parts based on the original files you give them. The samples turn out great and then you pay them the 50% deposit for the steel molds. After they get your money everything starts to fall apart. For example, they don't follow your instructions and mess the scale up, or they make changes to the designs that aren't approved and tell you what you're wanting can't be done. Even though you show them examples of existing figures that have already been produced with these features, they still say it's not possible Now you've hit a brick wall and there's no way to get any type of compensation from these factories so the money that's been spent is gone, and it's always a large amount because tooling is expensive. This is what a lot of smaller companies like mine are experiencing, especially when there's no outside project management happening at the factory. I've had four previous projects that for the most part went very well without needing project management, but with these 4" figures everything started going south. That's a mistake I'm in the process of correcting and I'm trying to make it happen as quickly as possible. The company I'm working with to hopefully take this on has a proven track record of putting out a quality product and has been in the action figure business for approximately 12 years. They're located in the US and they have someone from the company visit the factory in China on a regular basis to oversee progress on all the projects. Craig |

I wonder why there are no US companies that would do this type of manufacturing... you'd think there'd be someone willing to give it a try.
Environmental reasons? Not profitable?

A very unreliable one. I'm using the same factory that another company is using for their 4" action figure line that's currently in development, and no it's not Eagle Force. They're not happy with the factory either and I know for a fact that they're preparing to move their tooling to a new one.

Increased labor and other costs would probably result in US made action figures being like fifty bucks. We are used to consumer goods that are unnaturally cheap.

I want to believe I will get these eventually. Have the smaller manufacturerers considered forming a trust to put pressure on these factories that are screwing with them? It may be time to look at Vietnam for production.
It's too bad we can't have them made here because of EPA regulations, Labor Union demands, an overall higher cost of living etc. |

It’s probably human greed that causes almost ninety percent of America’s toys to be produced in China. Investors want to see the most profit possible, and care less about the success of any particular nation. The United States does have dozens of toy manufacturers, and perhaps you’ve heard of some of them: Little Tikes (plastic toys including playhouses, sandboxes, water tables, and the Cozy Coupe push car), Step2 (makes outdoor climbers and slides, ride-ons, wagons, and kids' furniture), Green Toys (plastic toys made 100 percent from recycled milk jugs to include toy trucks and cars, puzzles, blocks, tea sets, stackers, and children's dishes), K'Nex (moved back from China and makes Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, and several basic K'Nex sets), Alex Brands (Slinky, POOF foam sports balls, and Shrinky Dinks), American Plastic Toys (include play kitchens, dollhouses, sand toys, snow toys, and ride-ons), Vermont Teddy Bear (heirloom-quality stuffed bears), Dirt King (tricycles, wagons, and carts), Dune Craft (terrariums, plant-sprout kits, moldable Space Sand, and LED-light gardens).
