This came out great. Clever use of those great Retaliation figures to avoid body repaint.
And I guess you've gone too far (and too well) in your own Cobra cannon to buy into my revisionist concept that early Cobra desert troopers were light grey ala the Stinger driver. Eventually I'll get someone on board... Any problems with the head and the scarf piece (for future reference)? As far as the color scheme, I was going for more of an updated version of the Desert Assault Cobra Officer, which that whole box set is a tan color. If anyone is interested, I highly recommend Paraviper's custom helmets. They have the officer chevron sculpted on them. This helmet was a flesh tone color, but he also makes black and blue - the blue is an almost identical match to the POC Cobra soldier blue. Thanks for the comments and questions Hisshissfangfang! You know your reinvented Cobra customs are an inspiration for all of these. I've also revamped my Motor-Viper and Motor-Viper Officer (Stinger drivers), customized a HEAT-Viper (bazooka trooper), and a Frag-Viper (grenadier). I'll be posting those and some Class of 1984 Joes in the next couple of weeks. Thanks. Jason |

Continuing my "blue shirt" Cobra customs, here is the Sand-Viper, Cobra Desert Trooper.
I was pretty surprised at how well the Dojo 3-pk Beach Head legs match the Retaliation Mouse figure. The helmet is a custom resin cast by Hisstank member Paraviper. I plan to repaint it with a better tan-khaki matching paint. Comments and critiques appreciated and encouraged! Jason https://gijoerevisited2.blogspot.com/ I think those hands are 50th Shippy, by the way. If I were to recommend any change at all, it would be to paint the blue cuffs on the Mouse arms a different color (probably grey to match the gloves).

And since it's Saturday, here's a double-header CLASS of 1984 custom! This time the lone Coast Guardsman - Cutter!
The ball cap is from a SW Rebel Fleet Trooper because I actually made this custom head before Marauder ever produced their ball caps. The head is a SW Biggs Darklighter with the hair and mustache painted orange-brown. I trimmed the top of the head so that the ball cap would fit. Then glued the ball cap in place. I swapped out the stock holster with an MTF large holster (my favorite). The decals are from a Cobra Stickers - Toy Hax Killer WHALE sticker pack. More customizing narration on my blog. Comments and critiques encouraged! Thanks. Jason G.I. Joe Revisited |

Nice 84 updates Jason! Spirit's been on my mind this week (1st one out of my T13), so excellent timing with this one. Clever mixing of V1 and V2, and with the backpack mod.

Another update to my CLASS OF 1984 custom figures. This time is everyone's favorite, least articulated ARAH figure - DEEP SIX!!
Really wanted a better articulated Deep Six that required little to no paint apps. I've been sitting on this DC Mr. Freeze action figure for a couple of years waiting to make this custom. Had to do some fancy Dremel work to make the DC chest fit the Joe torso. Eventually had to glue the chest to the torso, but all other articulation works. I also have a custom SHARC in which I added the cockpit/seat from a Trench Run X-Wing Fighter (yes with targeting computer!) which allows regular figures (not this custom - way too big) to sit facing forward. I'll have to post pics of it soon. As usual, comments, critiques, and questions are welcomed and encouraged. Thanks. Jason |
