We haven't seen the Filecard yet, but obviously not Slaughter, and wasn't Mr. C a Cobra? I can't find a good Filecard of Funskool Sgt. Smasher, but he was pretty much a Sgt, Slaughter Ripoff. It sounds like this Smasher is a buddy of Slaughter's from Parris Island, kinda like how Beachhead and Rampage are sort of similar characters.

JoeGuide.com - Episode Summaries > Season 1 > The Wrong Stuff Mr. C removes his Cobra necklace smashes it and tells Duke that he is mean, bad and out of work, and while saluting Duke, he asks if there are any openings in G.I.Joe. Duke looks sideways then tells the muscular ex-actor, “Maybe, if you can pass the physical.” |

So the club said he is “inspired” by Mr C? That sounds like they might not be one and the same. I’ll accept noms but may hold off on his entry till we know more.

I will hold off, but we won't see a filecard for a few months though.

Yeah but the club has said "inspired" even when they're doing basically exact copies of old figures I think. Note that they said their Funskool-esque Windmill was "inspired" by the Indian figure. And that word would be appropriate here anyway because it's not a direct copy of Sunbow's Mr. C., they are expanding on his character. But it may simply be advancing his bio forward. It seems unlikely they won't use his Sunbow backstory because how else do you explain the "C" mohawk? And Slaughter's crew has a history of being ex-Cobras.
I guess you do get into a weird area here if there is an actual Funskool Sgt. Smasher figure. This new figure could be an amalgam of two different characters from other "verses." So Funskool Sgt. Smasher might be eligible, but this version wouldn't because it was technically the same code name re-used as a new name for a different pre-existing character. But if Mr. C never existed at all, then maybe this simply would be considered an alternate "verse" version of Sgt. Smasher. Last edited by JediJones; 02-23-2018 at 03:26 PM.. |

Yeah, you guys can keep your Sgt. Smasher nominations actually, but the picture may have to be of the Funskool cardback:
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...her-1733258283 Oh, wait, now I don't know. His bio looks identical to Sarge, including the birthplace. So this could be filed under same character, different name. So the name Sgt. Smasher may now have been used to rename TWO DIFFERENT characters! However, you may be able to update Mr. C's picture with the Joe Con file card's picture when that comes out. Last edited by JediJones; 02-23-2018 at 04:56 PM.. |
