My ranking starting from best Wendys Carls jr Mcdonalds Jack in the box Burger King I think Wendys has the best tasting burgers. I never go because they are so expensive here. Over $10 for the meal and I still am left hungry. And they never send me coupons. Carls jr. Is a close 2nd, but it is my go to spot since I get monthly coupons and the breakfast is #1. Here is a double baconator. Meat is thick and fresh. I think they are the only one of the group that uses fresh meat.

Okay, so here's my late-night rant. Apropos of nothing.
I'm really fed up with Kickstarter. I get the point of it, and I am happier in a world that has Boss Fight Hacks and Marauder than one without, but this thing is a really shitty way to get things done. The two biggest problems are: (1) Kickstarter is not intended to be used as a store, but this is PRECISELY how people are using it. As a result, Kickstarter doesn't natively support the architecture required for what is - essentially - a platform for pre-ordering products. They rely on backerkit surveys to accomplish this, and that leads to weird cock-ups like the Zombie launch. I mean, I'm glad that they eventually figured it out, but the fact that we had to be the ones to clue them in is a head-scratcher. They're trying to use a wrench to turn a screw. (2) The pledge system is just dumb. I'm supposed to predict how much money I will able to spend a month from now, tell my wife to keep it in our checking account but NOT spend it on groceries or anything, and then wait for it to get withdrawn on some random date of the month. I get this isn't a problem for some people, (my God, how can people have the money to spend thousands of dollars on these things?) but it's a tremendous headache for me. The bass-ackwards pledge system has frustrated me to the point that I've just stopped pledging entirely (I even withdrew my pledge for the Zombies) in the hopes that I can just buy them when they are released for retail. This is not an ideal solution for me, and it hurts the overall effort because my contribution doesn't get counted towards unlock goals. But I don't know how else to make it work. It would make way more sense to just let me make a payment immediately... But that takes us back to problem (1): The exact reason Paypal won't support Kickstarter is that they don't want the headache of refunding and arbitrating people's purchases... Because Kickstarter was never designed to be about making 'purchases' in the first place. So I don't know what to do. I like it when Kickstarter is used to fund new toy startups. But I hate Kickstarter as a platform for pre-orders. Hopefully a better method will emerge. Perhaps one that is more honest about the fact that it is financing product-by-preorder and doesn't try to fit a square peg into a round hole. That's my rant for the night. The end. |

@ solosam: I think your opinions are valid. Personally, I've found Kickstarter to work well for me in the past, but that's not to say I've not run into some hiccups along the way. I feel the good outweighs the bad, though, and have never considered passing on a project I'm otherwise interested in. But you are definitely correct in that Kickstarter's limitations show when it comes to products like this, and we do need a better system than relying upon third party pledge managers for complex pledges (which, to be fair, do a good job all things taken and considered). I think the billing issue is a bit more subjective, but if they can come up with a "bill-me-now-and-if-project-fails-refund-me-later" option without any harm to the system, then they should go for it--more accessibility is rarely ever a bad thing.

Oh, weird fact, the guy taking your order at a Jack in the Box drive thru usually have a separate kitchen from the good main one they have to then go to prepare your food and serve it to you while taking more orders through the drive thru, so your food from the Jack in the Box drive thru usually is REALLY REALLY bad.
If you just go in the store and order it, the quality actually goes up considerably. |
