Nobody complains about all the "crazy" in the MCU or DCU, so I'm game for an equal run at it. Sci-Fi is definitely the backbone of G.I. Joe and always has been, even though the "Black Ops" and "Call of Duty" crowd hate it. Serpentor, Cobra-La, Unicron, Visionaries... I say go for it!

We never did find out what happened to all those Cobra troops who were trapped on the moon in the Dixon run. That could be an interesting plot thread right there. Wraiths, Cybertronians...anything could have happened other than them perishing.

True, but the MU/DCU were conceived as a free for all, and Hasbro trying to cram all their properties into a single entity could be disastrous for the brands that work. I can already see Cobra playing a round of sorry to open a window in the fabric of space and time to fight My Little Pony; but they'll all use Nerf weapons to keep the rating PG for maximum profits.
But hey, if someone comes up with a good story... (However, if it's the best-selling mini-series of all time, then prepare for "My Little Pony vs. G.I. JOE II: Electric Boogaloo"!) |

What Marvel and SW has done with thier universe is amazing. Thier ability to provide quality content, tie-in characters, and complete projects is impressive. It must be a great time to be a Marvel or SW fan.
On the other end of the spectrum is our beloved Hasbro. They got nothing, a big fat zero, in the last 2.5 years...im Not optimistic the next 2.5 will be any better. Last edited by stillagijoefan; 09-24-2016 at 08:25 AM.. |

The shared Universe works for Marvel and DC so well because they have been doing it in comics for decades so when it came to big budget films they had loads of material to work with and yet at least in Marvels case they took thier time to build up to it on screen. I hope Hasbro has been taking notes and just doesn't plan on dumping this whole shared universe thing in us in just a few movies. This could be an epic fail for them. I don't really want to be a naysayer but given Hasbro's track record with the last 2 Joe movies, Bayformers and lets not forget the mega hit that was Jem I am a bit nervous for this. I think a better idea would have been to establish or re-establish these brands before they got into talks of intertwining them.

But don't you see? That's the beauty of it. If something doesn't work, you just have a time-travel story and all the crap gets erased. Marvel and D.C. do it all the time! Anything goes; e.g. Baron Karza goes back in time and implodes the My Little Pony world. It's flawless!!!
(However, if it's the best-selling mini-series of all time, then prepare for "My Little Pony vs. G.I. JOE II: Electric Boogaloo"!)

I'm positive about the upcoming end result of this movie or Tv show...

Rsg said it. MCU spent almost a decade laying out each individual backstory before combining them. And that is with almost everyone already knowing who these characters were and the characters maintaining a presence in the toy or media world. When has mask or the visionaries popped up anywhere in the last 30 years in the mainstream. I just think this is going to be a conglomerated mess without taking the time and attention to release stand alone movies and/or a toy line for each property first.
