OK, the hippie VW van has arrived and here are some scale shots for you fine folks:
It runs a bit large for Joes (if you're thinking diorama use) but works really well for play size. For Turtles, the scale looks very nice but the figures' limited articulation makes it nearly impossible to load them into the van (at least while the van is still in the box).

My hero! I want one now!
You know who'd look great with it, despite it making no sense? Gung Ho. |

It's going to be a Christmas gift for one of my kids. I am not a collector in the classic sense. Everything I buy goes to them.
And yeah, the 50th Gung Ho's color is probably a near match. I'll have to hold them up side by side to see, but it does look close off-hand.

Zap, thanks for sharing the info and pictures for the van! I bought the camper back when it was sold at TRU Express several years ago and love it (sadly, the Dickie Toys yacht that was sold then too was far underscale). For $13, I can't pass it up, and I doubt the scale is any worse than the Bruder trucks.

The figures were somewhat of a crossbreed between Minimates and GI Joe Combat Heroes figures in style and articulation. The figures and playsets are however very in scale with 4" GI Joe, Star Wars, Marvel,... figures. I think the toyline was only sold in Spain and a select few other countries around the world. I certainly never came across them here in northern Europe. As for the playsets itself, I believe there were 3 different ones that were produced: the Baxter Building from Fantastic 4, Punisher's Warehouse and Daredevil's Dojo. I currently have a Baxter Building being shipped my way that I bought online; if you're interested I could post some pictures when it gets here (I estimate it'll reach me in about 2 weeks time since). I'll be interested to see how it fits in with my other "cityscape playsets" (I currently have "the classics" to display my Joe figures, a Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ, Police Academy HQ, Batman Wayne Manor and a couple of others). |
