Same reason why Luke didn't have a Jedi Academy on Yavin IV, a son named Ben, a dead wife named Mara Jade and Leia and Han didn't have a dead son Anakin and twin kids Jacen and Jaina. No more Corran Horn, Talon Karrde, Face Loran, Kir Kanos, Nomi Sunrider, Exar Kun, Jan Ors, Kasen Moor, etc., etc., etc. |

While I'm all for films where females play the heroic lead and are empowered, why does it seem that Disney does this simply to increase sales of merchandise. They've always been concerned about boosting sales among young girls, and if that's the case, the character selection and development seems less organic and more contrived. But as far as the trailer goes, I'm intrigued by this character. Maybe Kyle shows up later.

Looks like another rehashed, derivative Star Wars movie with politically correct casting, cheesy dialogue, soap opera-style acting, and an overall feel of being the kind of Star Wars knock-off sci-fi production that came out in the '80s rather than continuing the visionary tradition of Lucas' 6 films. Or perhaps the live-action Star Wars TV show that we never got and also probably would've been of low-rent quality. Disney's idea that re-using the same 5 or so core OT vehicles is what makes something look like a Star Wars movie could not be more pathetically wrongheaded. I only saw one new-looking design of a Stormtrooper in there.

As for the bits about the legends stuff, I hate that disney did that and the fact that they slightly pull from it is even worse. If they didnt use anything from legends I would be fine, but when they pull 1 or 2 things and get them sooooooo wrong(First order, Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn, ect) its pretty annoying.

Where's the lovable droid or the goofy alien sidekick? NO LIGHTSABERS?!!
Must be saving those for the next trailer. |

I thought I remembered reading very early on that there would be no Jedi or Sith in this, just militaries. Though the trailer does show a martial artist, but that doesn't mean he is necessarily a Jedi. I guess the adult theme here is geared more towards adults that TFA which was blatantly gear more for children.

Well you'd think there would be some clone wars era stuff still around. I mean they cant switch AT-TEs to AT-ATs over night right? Well I guess this is what like 10-20 years after ep3, but still they could at least try throwing in those Space Stormtroopers or something.

Man, I wish I could still get excited for a Star Wars movie.
I was already getting sick of STAR WARS!!! before TFA hit, and seeing that thoroughly lackluster movie only soured me further. The whole "phenomenon" is just cringe-worthy now. I completely wore out my VHS Star Wars tapes as a kid--who would have thought I'd be talking this way about the franchise in 2016. This Rogue One looks like another ultimately forgettable entry into Star Wars, just like Force Awakens.
