Hasbro's designers aren't really the problem and never have been. Customizers get to basically work with an effectively "unlimited" budget per figure, with no time, paint, or part constraints, even to the point where they can use pieces and parts from multiple lines, to include lines that Hasbro doesn't even make.
Once you're actually working for Hasbro, that's simply not the case anymore. Figures have to come in within a budget, have to use only Hasbro G.I. Joe parts (with generally limited allowance for all-new parts), and have to have a limited number of paint apps. There's a divide between the "Design team" (the folks that actually design the toys, who are often just as big of "fans" as we are), and the Hasbro corporation, who counts the beans and gives that design team the limits they're allowed to work within. The Designers can't simply just make anything they want to make and expect Hasbro to go for it if it doesn't fall within those limits. |

And you have to have the pencil necked bean counters, this is a business. You might even need some bean necked pencil counters. |

I don't think that O-ring bodies are necessarily the answer.
What would help is a certain amount of standardization. Missiles to missile launchers, weapons to weapon mounts and so on. That way, if a kid loses the missile to his VAMP, he can grab one off of his HiSS tank and use it. He can take the Gatling gun from his VAMP and put it on his WOLF. This interchangeable capability should cross over into the Avengers and other lines. Heck, maybe they should make the figures so it is easy to remove heads, arms and legs so that kids could interchange them (and have as much fun as the customizers) - they just pop off and snap back into place. Imagine a kid making his own unique Destro or Snake Eyes. Hasbro could learn a lot from Mego's Micronauts in this respect. |

I see there is only one thing that can make us all happy. We have to invade Vietnam...again.
Just think about it. If we go back in, reinstate the draft, get the cia to tell hasbro that we need civilian support, then and only then will we have the potential to get action figures on the shelves again. Now who's with me? |
