I'm with you guys. As my collection grows, I find I buy a lot of stuff that I don't really want, but have to store. I have joked before that I'm going to dump it all in the front yard, put gas on it, and watch it melt into a giant pile.
One thing that has gotten me a lot more calm is that I occasionally go through my collection and if the fig hasn't been out in about a year then it goes. I know when I have an affinity for a fig or not. I agree regarding vehicles as well. I like them, but I don't play with the vehicles anymore, so they just sit. It takes a really cool vehicle for me to want to give it the space. I have found a really great technique for storing aircraft. I buy the large sized command hooks and hang them from the wall so they are parallel with the wall. It looks really cool, and takes up no space. |

I've been hanging my aircraft for 8 years and the hooks have never failed or caused damage to the wall. Definitely no damage to the toys themselves either. It is a huge space saver. Last edited by Dusty Ayers; 10-04-2015 at 02:15 PM.. |

It really saved my sanity because I hit a point where I was completely out of space.

I stopped collecting around 87 and started again in 2012. I don't really regret any lines because I have only bought figures I wanted. As a kid, I wanted to get them all, and between money and trying to find them in a small rural town, I had no hope. Now, sometimes I wonder if there any figures out there I don't have or haven't seen because I would like another figure and more or less have what I want.
I will say that there is the odd figure or vehicle I regret buying. I didn't pay too much for it, but I have the Indy cargo truck and after getting it, I was like okay, nice, but now what. Too nice and rare to do much in the way of customizing. And I don't regret buying them, but the 50th Snow Job and Alpine were figs I really wanted from the earlier lines and am pretty much underwhelmed by them. My biggest regret is not collecting 25th and POC when they were in the stores. I remember seeing them, but my daughter was into Star Wars then so I was like, Oh cool, ARAH remakes, and put them back, including the POC Spirit/Billy. |

Yeah, I'm definitely a minimalist now. More so than ever, in fact. The older I get, the less shit I want hanging around taking up space. Clutter just bugs the piss out of me to the point that I don't even display my toys. They're all squirrelled away on shelves in a (admittedly huge) closet out of sight...so it begs the question, what's the point? For me, damned if I know.

I love to see the pics of dudes with entire rooms of Joes, but the thought of actually owning that makes my skin crawl. Having to move would be rough. |
