What would your interest level be if Hasbro did this? Hasbro suspends 4" licensing to the GIJCC.
Hasbro creates a new online subscription service for GI Joe. The subscription service will be based on fan interest and # of subscribers. If the pre-sale goals are met hasbro will release 12 figures in monthly shipments of 2 figures. 1 Subscriber optional figure and 2 subscriber optional playsets/vehicles per subscription period (period to be determined by demand). Figures marketed at $20 each + shipping; vehicles marketed at $25 + shipping for small vehicles or playsets (awe striker/old hiss size), $35 each + shipping for med vehicles (snow cat/ modern hiss size), and $45 + Shipping for large vehicles (Tomahawk/rattler size). Would that feed your Joe fix or make you more upset? That would feed my fix for Joes and vehicles. I'd be happy with it. Another upside to it, I wouldn't have to drive around to TRU (nearest TRU being two hours away) or other stores to hunt down what I want. Think of the money saved on gas and eventually on tires. |

heh, i don't care what Hasbro does as long as it is for the stability of the line to survive....Joe has gone from 12" to 2.5" to Kre-O size and in-between. It adapts. Hasbro will adapt the brand.....
I like the o-rings.I have no great love for the modern figures in all honesty-except that the sculpts are generally much better..My Joe is already over. Hasbro should do what is best for the brand. being DOA does no one any good. ;)

Yeah, because kids are falling head over heels to get to Walmart to buy the latest Call of Duty action figure or vehicle :rolleyes

Hasbro has signaled they are cutting 4" articulation and some of the costs to consumer. They also are signaling that they and retailers are happy with the space and price point associated with 6" collector figures.
Fans will not accept 5 PoA Joe figures at the 4" scale so Hasbro won't make them. I assume we will see one final hurrah for 4" as TRU exclusives this fall blending in some concept and repaint figures. I think 2016/17 will bring something new to the Joe line...and I doubt is is highly articulated 4" figures. I do agree that for a broad spectrum vehicle/playset line like the 80s, they'll have to go 2.5". But I think a valid argument could be made for a slightly larger line (4.5-5", which we aren't that far from to begin with) with stronger emphasis on characters since the last THREE, full, GI Joe cartoon series (Renegades, Sigma Six, Extreme) all didn't have nearly the vehicle emphasis as the original ARAH line. I'm not quite willing to write off the 3.75-4" SIZE, but I think the ME FORMAT is apt to be on its last legs. Hasbro's not going to undercut its biggest licensor, but at $13 (or more), a single 4" super articulated (which is what ME and SW Black are) figure with accessories isn't a practical entry point for the brand. In fairness, Hasbro abandoned DECADES of o-ring tooling (figures and vehicles, ARAH and nuSculpt) to establish a new format with ME, which was largely incompatible with a large volume of existing product.

Without a cartoon I don't know what market they could attract though except nostalgia? The movies clearly do not sell Joe product. IE there is no sell-through in stores. I'm not saying they don't sell any at all, but there is no sell-through at retail. Star Wars black, rebels, TFs and Turtles all have sell-through ability (the 6"greedo/leia wave being an exception).

No they don't,lol. They do however wait outside to buy the newest game the day it comes out...and the walking dead figures don't last on pegs here! There's no such thing as a walking dead peg warmer here! What I'm saying is if hasbro did realistic military&zombies they'd sell better. People tend to forget that gijoe is supposed to be "fully posable modern army figure" the neon stuff is when they strayed from what I was sold on as a kid! And once you take articulation away they're no longer fully posable!! This with quality is what made them great! As for cartoons? Idk. There's too many whiners out there to object to the violence, besides that toy companies sell toys all day long to kids that shouldn't be watching the movie they're from anyways!! lol. If I was running hasbro if mike an ultra violent adult gijoe on adult swim.,kids will still watch, think it's cool, and buy the figures.

With the delay Hasbro had a year to make new product to tie in with the movie that actually looked like stuff from it. But no, they just spit out wave one and two all over again. It's good that Hasbro finally has some new blood heading up the Joe division. Joe can survive and thrive, if Hasbro wants it to. I was really hopeing that Disney wasn't going to let Hasbro get the star wars license renewed. That would of forced Hasbro to go a new direction with in house brands and could of seen a true revival of GIJoe. Until Hasbro learns their lesson and knows how to market toys in this day and age they will continue to fail again and again. If it wasn't for star wars they would of folded by now. It's made them complacent and they've lost their way, gotten lazy and forgotten what it takes to really sale a brand. Movies, cartoons, comics, novels, phone apps/games, video games (made by a real company like EA), toy tie ins that actually look like stuff from the movie/cartoon/games/comics. those are the things that can save any brand and bring it to the fore front. |

Nobody,we all lost! I will add that I saw a power rangers figure commercial that looked surprisingly familiar during one of my son's tv shows yesterday!! Kids playing in a sand box with power Rangers at the figures point of view with little hands moving them around!! If someone has a link I'd love if they posted it!! Why can't joes get that? those commercials where awesome!! still no like power rangers, but my son will prolly want them if the commercial runs more often, justsayin Quote:
The movie line might of sold a bit better had the toys actually looked like characters and vehicles from the movie. What was it, wave 3 or 4 before got anything besides red ninja's that actually looked like the movie characters. The vehicles other than the awe striker didn't look like anything in the movie.

Btw,both joe movies sucked! the first one was just terrible! That's part of what hurt the toys imo. Who wants toys to a sucky movie?
