I want to add that the detail mode you mentioned is better known as macro mode. With this mode you can photograph an object very close and get all the details you wouldn't get with default camera settings.

i gotta few tips i geuss,
tooth picks, get em, i used them for everything before i even collected joes. they are the shit. i use em for painting, creating, fixing. its endless in what they can be used for. keep a cup of water handy, an a napkin to wipe your brush.. when applying paint, dont let any edge set up, when the brush touches the plastic, spread it outwards on all angles fast, dont let it puddle up either, thins coats is the key! oh an constantly dip your brush in the water then wipe an go back to paint, dont let the paint sit on the bristles to long. when i paint , i make a tree of some sort. i use a flower arrangment center piece, the foam crap, an then i use tooth picks, i cut the one tip off, so its flat, an now you can stick it in the holes of the arms so you can paint it with out touching with ya hands, then when done take it an stab it in the foam let it sit an dry, an your on the the next pce. an i use q-tips as well, cut off the q's lol. these work great for the screw hole in the legs, jab it in there an bam you can hold it an paint the pce. then jab it in the foam to dry. hmm what else , oh i use gator clip/roach clips too, great say for feet, clip the plug, or say you're doing a ff cp ss crotch an waste, ya clip the neck ball.. the real important part is the foam, i can have a whole lotta parts painted an drying. use acr flats, get acrylic use brushes, an dont skimp out, you pay for quality. an be creative, use your imagination, draw an image in your mind an use it as a template for your design... oh an after the parts are washed an dried, i pick each part up w/ a lil pc of paper towel, then slide each pc on either tooth pick an certain pcs get the q-tip oh an when i paint a head i use an old upper body of some crap joe. it works like the lil things i made for the other parts, but it sits flat when you let it sit to dry. an i also use a eye dropper for the paint, an a dish that has lil bowls for paints. get one of them. a.c. moores' got em! never paint out the jar, you will build up skin .. an always shake the jar real good like ya beatin off, an stir after..before use.. You can attach stuff to your figures by using flat magnets.
Y'now, those flat, flexible magnets with advertisements that everyone has on their freezer. Crop a small square, glue it to the figure, and put a small metal on what you need to be "stickied". For example: Hawk's chest gun holder can't be removed (unless you crack open the body i guess). So, choose a wide section, preferably on the back, a cut the damned belt. You can glue a strip of magnet on the inner side of the belt, leaving a portion that fits the other section of the belt. Cut a very small square of metal (a soup can could serve well), and glue it on the opposite inner side of the cut on the belt. VoilĂ*, now the belt is fixed. This is useful also for guns, and other loose equipment. For example: Glue a small square of magnet on Fyrefly's backpack. Glue a small metal square on the walkie talkie. Now it won't get loose. For weapons, a small needle or pin could be glued, then painted. This also can be done with gun holsters, or any other kind of gear, and change them at leisure on the different belts |

LOL i see that you too have that creepy old man trying that someone drink from his coup
Tip: Screwdrivers make good drilling tools. Small ones. Very small. Phillips screwdrivers, if rotated firmly, can make a hole to make a peg fit for example, and you'll get much more better handling of it. I've cut the foot of an old SW figure, make a hole with a screwdriver, and put an articulated Joe foot on it. It takes a fair amount of time, but is safe and cheap Wooden tools. Get some wooden modeling tools. They're used by artisans, so they shouldn't be hard to find. They work better in modelling than metal, and spoon-like tools could crack open a body without leaving a scratch. |

Ok, here's one I'm dying to know...
How come every time I use my dremel to make a Valor vs. Venom head 25th compatible, even with vice grips, I still almost lose an eye or a finger? What am I doing wrong, what kind of bit/setup are you people using to make sure your eyes and fingers remain intact? |
