They were definitely Hells Angels/biker gang members with little sprinkles of punk here and there.

Looks Pretty Dreadnok-ish to me. Fitting salute too Captain Steven DePace.
The 1984-85 years have nothing to do with the inspiration behind the Dreadnoks. That's like saying the Vietnam War was too dormant to influence any of the original JOES backgrounds. The Vietnam war had a huge impact on the JOES. And it wasn't "big" in 84/85. Because of Larry Hama's experiences in his own life that's where the stories and backgrounds are derived from. The Dreadnoks are throwbacks to a different era, but they sustain because the thread of that era remains running thru pop culture today. Last edited by MLos1; 01-17-2009 at 10:53 AM.. |

After reading through this thread, I am warning everyone now: I will soon start a rumor that the Dreadnoks were originally supposed to be Jamaican and called the "Dredlocks." Zartan was originally "Rasta."
Just a warning to you guys. I may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but I'm gonna do it and when you're arguing that this rumor isn't true to some dumbass that buys it you cannot say you weren't warned!!

Just remember that whatever he indeed is, Zartan was never at anytime schizophrenic. Also I think the Noks were a slightly trashed down nod to the Village People...

Bahahahaha I called that one!
I don't think so bro, I have never seen a punk wearing a shirt like Ripper's, while Ripper and Buzzer's filecards made them out too be Anarchists, they weren't portrayed as them, and they sure as fuck didn't follow PUNK RAWK anarchy. And 70's punk was pretty dormant in 1984/1985. good idea but unless you can get me a picture of Dave Gregg with the same style shirt as Ripper's I'm gonna go with the Dreadnoks being the impure portions of society (Homosexuals, bikers and nihilistic bookworms) |

Yeah that sissy needs to be slapped around and put in his place. There is nothing impure about Homosexuals or nihilistic bookworms. I'm sure the average intellect from from either group greatly exceeds his and would put him back in his little place.

I was trying too say G.I.Joe=The defenders of freedom and in the way they are portrayed they all look like Super Republicans. If you take a look at Cobra/other bad guys they tend too be those with liberal ideas, case in point: Buzzer's character is that of an EXTREME LIBERAL But if you want too keep claiming the average homosexual or nihilstic bookworm (real niche market, guys) is smarter than me go right ahead. I'm secure enough with myself too know "Hey these guys totally didn't read what I said" Please don't wish violence upon me though, I don't think that's fair Your pal, Captain Steven RICARDO DePace. Also Delta, I'll give you you're examples. I know Dave Dictor of MDC at one point had a similar haircut too Ripper as well
