Why would anyone expect a manufacturer's store to be stocked? Just ship the product to your primary points of sale and let them market it for you.

Either way, it is still treated and operated like any other online retailer, and has opted to NOT carry "Shared Exclusives" NUMEROUS times in the past.

Y'know, reading a 12" GI Joe blog gripe about how Hasbro isn't treating 12" right and what it SHOULD be doing feels a bit like watching "A Few Minutes with Andy Rooney"

Maybe I'm more an optimist than I realize, but I continue to hold hope that Hasbro hasn't abandoned GI Joe. Since 2009, their plans have been continually FUBAR by changing factors: movies, cartoons, delays, changing retail and corporate interests, etc. I like to think the weak offering this year was indicative of a regrouping on their part, and we WILL see new GI Joe product at Toy Fair 2015 that isn't more the same. BUT, to make GI Joe truly successful, I still believe requires the brand to let go of its aging collectors and embrace kids, whatever that might turn Joe into. As for aging collectors vs embracing kids, ill glady watch whatever new show the brand produces. As for a drastic new line of 6" toys ...ill pass because...I'm content with my small collection of arah inspired ME joes. |

I dumped my collection because I did not like the fact that Joes were becoming a TRU exclusive. I dislike TRU tremendously. They are terrible. Plus the new stuff does not really fit in with the 25th and 30th stuff. They are all giants. Look at new Destro's big ass. He towers over everyone. I think it's funny some people take other people's opinions so personally. I can like a property and not have to purchase the toys. I learned that when I sold my Star Wars collection. GI Joe has lost all it's cache with the younger set. It's all for the old collector. Kids don't care for army men. There are no Joe properties for kids to glom onto. It's really all Hasbro's doing that GI Joe has fallen out of favor. I just lost interest in the Joe stuff. It's all constant rehashes. When I sold my collection I noticed I had like 20 different Destros. That in itself is a joke. I'm very happy with all the cash I got. It was a lot more than I thought I would get. Which was surprising. So now I get to take all that cash and pursue a different hobby. I still love GI Joe from my childhood, but it's over man. I can watch the cartoons and be just as satisfied. But if they were to go to a 6 inch format, that might change my mind. Plus I am in a position to pursue a new collection.

Kinda with you, ever since I got my complete Flagg, joe hasn't been the same for me. I got my grail and that was it, so much so I have been trying to sell my joecon stuff, thinking I am going to get rid of all the modern stuff and just keep vintage. My 100 plus vipers and 100 plus cobra troopers are doing nothing but taking up space withe 50 different destros, commanders and snake eyes.

Dumping the line because a handful of new releases became TRU exclusive certainly wins the crown as the dumbest reason I've ever heard to quit collecting something. Not sure how to top that...unless I say the paint on Lady Jaye's face was so bad that I was unable to resist selling off 1,000 other figures in protest. I think some of you guys are just too embarrassed to admit you're broke and need the cash, so you spin up these other bizarre, goofy reasons for selling off your collection. I've seen guys on some boards talking about selling off their collection and then buying it all back later on when they regain interest. I admit I did that on a small scale when I was a kid trying to scrape up cash. But trying to scrape up cash is the only real reason to be so fickle about a collection. The whole point of collecting is to buy stuff so you can get a complete set, however you define complete, and keep it.
Did you guys ever think of trimming down the 100 Vipers and 20 Destros to a more reasonable, slimmed-down collection? No one ever said you had to buy every every variation of each character or army build to infinity. Back in the '80s I passed on Tiger Force and Night Force because I wasn't interested in team-colored repaints. That didn't mean I stopped collecting the core collection. If anything I can see selling off the old, outdated vintage figures because the new ones look so much better, but that's just me. Last edited by JediJones; 10-06-2014 at 02:05 AM.. |

I am actually glad there is less product. It makes everything they release more exciting, it allows me to appreciate the smaller details more and it is also easier on the wallet.
I'm not that afraid of the line dying. There has been new GI Joe product from Hasbro every year since except 1999 (and Toys R Us still not product in the aisle) since 1982.
