Back in 1995 I found out my sister's best friend had almost every GI Joe item ever made up through 1986 (only child). He had trashed a lot of it, but I was able to buy a ton of figures nearly complete for around $3 each (Baroness, Firefly, Spirit, etc.). He later dug out his Terror Drome, and I was able to buy it, along with a Hydrofoil and a Water Moccasin for $35. The Water Moccasin was the only one complete, but the plastic on it later disintegrated. I was 15 at the time, so I bought the Terror Drome just b/c it was cool. However, it sat in my room through the rest of high school and I'd constantly bump into it and break off a tab here or there before I finally put it in a storage shed. A couple years ago I got it back out and replaced some of the broken pieces. Surprisingly it's in good shape still and I plan on letting our kids play with it when they get old enough. I have enough DG black and blue Cobra Troopers to man it now.

Got me one with a carded Mercer V2 for 250 at Joe Con Orlando. Its 100% complete. I've never had one as a kid or any of the big playsets so as an adult with disposable income, I knew it had to be my first of what is considered the 'holy grails'. Next a Defiant.

I never had the Defiant nor the Flagg but had The 1983 HQ, The 1985 TBP, and the Terror Drome. I loved all three of them. I can see the play value of the Flagg and probably would have had many melees between Joes and Cobra Eels in the hull section, Under Siege (yeah that's right Under Siege) type commando fights in the tower and huge fights between Joes and Cobra Para troopers ( yeah I know in RL you really couldn't chute down onto a carrier to easily) on the flight deck. I would never have launched a jet from the deck, to me that deck would have been Thunder Dome! I don't see that level of play value in the Defiant but again I never touched one so I don't really know. Is there much to do with the gantry or its the play value wholly in the shuttle? I'd prefer to have my battles on the gantry if there was room for it. The shuttle itself never interested me.
