Question: why is it that theVipers card says theyre the bottom rung in Cobra, then the card for airborne trooper from the 5th dvd pack says THEY are? How would it make any sense that the Viper is? They have bady armor and helmets! What, do they graduate from Viper to Trooper and Cobra TAKES AWAY their protection? I always imagined that the blue shirts were the bottom of the ladder, then Vipers, then CG's.....

Glad to see the topic turn to the Cobra heirarchy.
The way I use them. Cobra Troopers are the lowest units (& also serve as palace guards). From there they can branch to various specialization like Infantry (Vipers), telecommunications (Tele-vipers), divers/UDT (Eels), technicians (Technoviper), medical training (Medi-Viper) etc. From there on they can branch out to even more specialized unit. Eels + cold weather training = Snow Serpents. Eels + even more deepsea training & surgery = Hydrovipers Eels + Airborne Training = Paravipers Eels + some sort of training = Lampreys Snow Serpents + mechanical training = Ice Vipers And like Tankmasher said, Crimson Guards are an elite unit altogether. You need have at least a degree to be a Crimson Guard in my joeverse. Last edited by Pimp Daddy Darklon; 12-06-2008 at 10:43 AM.. |

you know what they don't have is a Cobra Sailor. I would imagine they would be the bottom rung of the Cobra Naval Forces and from there they move up to Eels and whatever else. Most likely recruited from Pirates and various depressed River Populations from around the world. Ganges/Amazon/Mississippians?
I use the DTC Cobra soldiers since they seem to be wearing a more Waterproof suit and I got ten of them. Although I imagine most Eels are recruited form former military types, and not petty thugs. |

The way I see it:
Cobra Trooper/Officer are regular Infantry Vipers are Ranger equivalents ***-Vipers are Ranger equivalents with cross-training So Para-Vipers would be Airborne Ranger equivalents. H.E.A.T.-Vipers are Ranger equivalents with anti-armor weapons. Bazooka Trooper is an infantry trooper with a bazooka. Cobra Divers are Divers. EELs are SEaL equivalents Snow Serpents are SEaL equivalents with special training Lampreys would be SEaL equivalents with special training (Cobra's version of the Navy's Combatant Craft Crewman) So any kind of Blueshirt is normal army/navy equivalent. Vipers are Cobra's Special Forces. Troopers come from the military and/or petty thugs. Vipers have to have some kind of military training to begin with. Crimson Guard are special forces officer equivalents. They have to have some kind of degree in law or business as well as some military training. So yeah, Cobra is lacking a Sailor-equivalent.

I know Airtight is from New Haven. I suspect Strecher is Hartford. Who is the third? Quote:

I think guys like Blowtorch and Charbroil belong on a Special Weapons Team. Lightfoot, Tripwire and Long Arm work well as an EOD Team. As for Barbecue and Airtight--they belong in some sort of Environmental Safety Unit for rare emergencies. All in all, these guys belong in rear support.
Tunnel Rat has EOD speciality, but needs to be in the field where this may be required, along with his other specialities. I consider and use Barbecue as Navy. I do not believe his filecard specifically states a branch. His uniform also seemsto imply a mobile/combat firefighter better used on the USS Flagg or Tactical Battle Platform. Regarding the TBP, wouldn't it make more sense to classify it under Coast Guard? It has legs and need to actually reach the ground, not get lucky and match old oil derrick legs like in the comic. Opinions?

I agree with most of that except in this way, because Serpents are wearing parachutes: Eels + Airborne Training + cold weather training = Snow Serpents. Eels + even more deepsea training & surgery = Hydrovipers Eels + Airborne Training = Paravipers Eels + some sort of training = Lampreys Snow Serpents + mechanical training = Ice Vipers
