Oh and just for the record, I say it's a repaint but it's also a new version of an old figure...haha.

The problem here is everyone's definition of a 'new' figure. To me, Firefly is a 'new' figure. He just happens to be a repaint. Basically, to me, it's a new figure if Yojoe.com makes an entry for the figure. Something like the vehicle versions of Serpentor and Breaker are just variations on an existing figure (hence no separate entry for them, but just a note on the single pack Serpentor figure and the comic pack Breaker entries indicating that they were released in a vehicle with slight changes). For me, I don't dispute that it's a repaint, but it is a new 'version' of the figure.

Yeah, but I think that the versions of Breaker are different. Same as the Serpentor. The vehicle-pack versions have much worse paint apps and missing accessories.
While this is a new "deco" of a figure, they at least included new card art and it's single-carded. Doesn't mean I'm excited about it. Every version of Duke is the exact same figure, if you ask me. New "decos" perhaps. New accessories with each release, but there's not a single Duke we've gotten that's new since the Wave 13 Duke, which seems to actually sport new molds.** (CP Duke with Redstar is a "nice" Duke in regards to him fitting into the O13 look, but it's a kitbash of all previously-released parts. Not one new part, right?) Snake Eyes V2 isn't a repaint if you ask me. He is completely different from V1 in the sense that he has new molded webgear and a head. Same as V1 Snake Eyes is different from Stalker. Now, the TRU Snake Eyes, is a direct repaint of all existing parts (as are all TRU exclusives, apparently). Nothing new, so technically there's nothing new about him, although he is a separate deco and combination of parts. At least he got new card art. Even single-pack Bludd didn't match his card art. It's a repaint. Combo of parts, with new card art, but nothing's new about the figure itself. **EDIT: Actually, I guess DVD pack #5 Duke is as "new" as V1 Flint was. With the new head and new webgear, and alternate paint. He even sports the new Duke Arms. Tiger Force Duke, on the other hand, at least comes with new accessories and has fixed arms, but I don't consider him so much a new figure, as the base figure is just a fixed repaint with new accessories. So as far as "new" Dukes go, I'd count DVD Duke as the newest version of Duke since V1 of the 25th line. THEN Wave 13 Resolute Duke. Which I don't know if it's considered to be "truly" part of the 25th/Modern Era series. Blah, technicalities. Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 11-27-2008 at 05:14 PM.. |

He's saying that it's a new figure in that it has never been released in this form before. It is a repaint but it is technically a 'new' figure because it's a new version of this figure, whereas the SE in Wave 13 is a repack of Wave 3 SE so it's not a new figure. Online stores will probably not differentiate this SE with the same one that was released in wave 3 (I think it was wave 3). The Firefly however, would get a new entry. The stores will have a Wave 3 Firefly (I'm not 100% on the wave #'s) and also a listing for wave 13 Firefly, but likely will not have a listing for Wave 13 SE. So, I take new to mean a new version of the figure, even if it is a repaint, it's technically a new figure because he was never released in this paint scheme.
Breaker with RAM - not a repaint, it's a new figure. Comic Pack Destro - not a repaint, new figure. Single pack Torch or Ripper - not repaints of the comic pack figures, new figures. Grand Slam - not a repinated Flash, brand new figure. etc, etc. so, if you are going to support that argument, you are going to have to concede that no figure can ever be considered a repaint. at that point, that would eliminate the need to even differentiate between a new figure or repaint. I don't think anyone could ever rationally come to that conclusion. and a figure being carried over into a new wave, like wave 13 SE's, isn't the same comparison. |

It is a repainted figure..although it isn't the exact same blue as the TRU 5 pack. It looks a little darker.
