I just recently got my hands on the Retaliation Ninja Combat Cruiser. I, like every Joe fan, was bummed about the under-articulated drivers that have come with the recent vehicles. However, as disappointed with Night Fox as I may have been, I couldn't completely dislike him. He had a cool design, and even more so there was something I found charming about the figure. Then it struck me that he really feels and looks like an update to the Action Force SAS Force team.
I only found out about AF in the last few years, but they immediately drew my interest as an undiscovered corner of the Joe universe. Now of course the construction of proper Joes was superior, but I couldn't help finding the old AF figures charming, especially the dark-clad SAS Force. Looking at Night Fox he so aesthetically resembles an SAS Force figure--all black gear with a yellow-ish vest--and even his stance highly resembles the stances of some of the figures, like the masked guy on the bottom left. I don't know if there was any intent in creating a homage to the SAS Force, but intended or not, it has given me an appreciation for the figure I otherwise would not have had. Ok, here's where you get to tell me that Night Fox is an irredeemable piece of shit that's worse than Bin Laden, and that someone at Hasbro should be eviscerated for releasing this figure. . I think the slight resemblance is unintentional at best. Last edited by Steevy Maximus; 05-23-2013 at 06:26 PM.. Reason: Inappropriatness |

Yes he's a cool figure that is a waste because you can't pose him! Who cares how cool he looks when his joints are stuck in the same position forever!
The Joe line is known for it's articulation! It's the best out there, so we didn't want Mattel articulated figures! |

I wholeheartedly agree with the OP. And being a European I should know, because as you know the original AF was released here.

Strip off the head, vest and rifle and deposit what remains directly into the garbage.

Agreed, he is a cool looking figure but he's irredeemable in terms of articulation. I put him and the 5 poa Snake-Eyes driver up on ebay and some how some way someone actually bought them???

The upcoming ultimate Duke is the articulated version of NF, if Duke comes with the NF head as he's been shown with, you can have a articulated NF in desert camo or repaint him in NF's colos, but the vest for the 2 is different.

Well, like I said, for me it's a matter of perspective. If I think about it as a modern Joe figure, it is disappointing. But if I think about it as a homage to the SAS Force, including the articulation, I find it a fun piece to have. Besides, no matter how much articulation these figure have, I'm only finding one pose for them and they stay in that pose in my displays. I can live with one or two figures where my posing options are limited to their default pose.
