Stair step... What a load of crap! So for joe it goes, introduce a cartoon but don't release toys till a year later and of course cancel it after one season. Push everything back for a new movie, delay that for 9 months then when it finally comes out only release 2 waves of figures( one that was already released 9 months earlier) and delay the great movie accurate figures that you had an extra 9 months to get ready by 4 months. Then have no real news of anything coming in the next year or 2. Yep I love the stair step on Joe. Working great.

I like the sound of that. I think the chance for a new toon are pretty good if they follow their stated model.

Reading between the lines, it seems as if Hasbro has gotten the message loud and clear that Joe needs a toon to support the brand in between movies, in order for there not be drop off in interest, and further facilitating this 'stair setup' approach they mentioned. It only makes sense. But this isn't necessarily supported by the data they published during their Q1 investor conference, which is that the TF brand has not been successively improving sales from movie 1 to now. Granted, I don't see a huge drop off occurring- at least not a deep pre movie sales drop off- but certainly the sales haven't been steadily increasing, toon or otherwise.
So, where does this leave we Joe fans? Is Hasbro actually planning a new toon for 2014 to help keep the momentum going on the brand until movie 3? Only time will tell. |

so they're referencing how following up movies with animated shows improves a brand name. Kinda like how Renegades really helped the Joe brand name, especially with the Hasbro product on shelves at the same time as the show...wait a minute. It's kinda like how Clone Wars helped the Star Wars brand name, especially with how Hasbro dwindled new product for the show despite it getting good ratings...wait a minute.
Ok. I'm not sure what they were saying. |

But what's MARKETABLE now? MMA fighters? (GSP is in Cap 2! UGH!). They can't do Superheroes or High Tech (They tried that and FAILED). I always wanted to see a series/conflict that took place in South America (and show Cobra de Aco in ACTION!). But with all the political stuff happening, they have to tread lightly. What kills me is that no matter how much we all hate how they drag ass, we'll STILL shell out over $100 bucks for a friggin Night Force figure. ONE GUY!

GI Joe wasn't in any of the presentation slides. I take that to mean it's officially dead.

Hasbro dragging it's ass on G I Joe? Again, more double talk, that doesn't mean anything. It's Hasbro's (Brian Goldner's) way of avoiding the question by not saying, "no" or "we have no plans at this time". Instead, it's an answer that so obvious to even a 10 year old child. A movie gives a brand momentum. In the interim between films, a cartoon helps to keep the momentum going to a point. No shit! Now, how about actually answering the question? Do you have any plans to do anything with this brand? That you can actually reveal? Because so far, you've shown up at con's and conferences with vague answers and double talk. Brian Goldner and his inner circle will be the death of Hasbro. If that means a buyout from someone like Disney, so be it. But the current state of affairs (in how they've botched the Joe, Star Wars and Marvel lines) cannot last much longer. PS: Dear Disney: Please obtain the rights to the Star Wars line. These buffoons don't have a clue what the Hell they are doing.
