"SDCC hint - Will be a bigger set, fill a void for many collectors, will have a surprising amount of figures they think the fans will be happy with. Didn't say it would be Joe/TF, but hinted it will probably carry forward"
that's just great... so fan favorite figures will be part of a big exclusive unaffordable set. Awesome. Half the concept vault will be there. Thanks Hasbro. |

I apologize if this has been asked...I'm working off my phone with barely a connection at all -
Did hasbro say anything about the spec ops brand of single figs that we've seen tags for at Target? |

So now it's going to be a year-plus before any new product? I fail to see the "good news" and "everything's peach with G.I. Joe!" in this situation.
The movie and the toyline are two very separate things. Good box office returns on the movie doesn't necessarily translate into toys being sold. Not too familiar with corporate doublespeak are you? Paid any attention to what's happening with some of Hasbro's other lines this year? Low-articulation is clearly what they're starting to lean towards, and "future figures" only consists of what we've seen. Next year there might not even BE vehicles. Or they won't pack drivers in at all. There are a million ways they can dance around that statement that don't automatically mean "Everything's gonna be awesome from here on out!" No, but it's also kind of idiotic if you can't see that the line is in a dire predicament if they've got NOTHING going forward at this point, and are too terrified to even give a hint of what might be coming to the most devoted defenders and supporters of the brand. As others have pointed out, they've basically had a year where apparently the Joe team has done...virtually nothing at all. At least not anything worth showing. Well, at least we agree on something. I am cautiously optimistic. And I do definitely think they were specifically waiting to see how the movie did before making too many further plans. A week and a half after is not really sufficient time for them to have cemented those plans enough to show off product. These decisions do not happen instantly. But I think it's clear that the line will continue for a while longer. But please, continue being miserable if it makes you happy. :-) (mostly kidding) Quote:

But don't mistake Hasbro's experimentation for stupidity. As has been stated many times over the years, the fans are not the end game that Hasbro wants to rope in... the kids are. Fan sales certainly help, and have kept the line chugging along just barely... but they are looking for something that will increase sales for the future. Just the facts of how things are. Then put the friggin tissues down and make sure the Ultimate Wave sells well when it comes out. Money makes all decisions easier.
